S'sup peeps? I just learned about a bunch of new machines on the market made by your favourite brands: Sony/ Samsung/ Phillips etc etc, that "upscale," your old normal DVDs to 1080p. This sounds great to me as I have around 500 DVDs and I am not prepared to sell them and buy them all over again on Blu-Ray. I was wondering if anyone on here has bought one and if so how is it? Here is a pretty picture to lighten the post and keep it from looking dull, lol. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"tongue.gif\" /> <img src=\"http://i452.photobucket.com/albums/qq247/el_mariarchi_01/phil3577h.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />

You still need a TV capable of 1080p. And while this does have a bit of a quality increase over simply stretching the picture to 1080p, it is in no way comparable to an actual HD movie. Also, I think every Blu-ray player upscales old DVDs, so it is still a good investment.

I really dont think the upscaled dvds look all that great. It doesnt compare to blu ray at all.

Yeah a HDTV would help alot if you are going to get one of these players, I just use my old HD DVD Player to upconvert my dvds and they look great.

Cool guys, thanks for your opinions. I do have the HDTV which does 1080p. I should have posted it on here, its my sickest score yet I think. First a picture of my TV on its own, and then one of me without my Freddy make-up on,lol, (I mean Silicone mask) so you can see me in front of it to kind of get a feel of what a monster my TV really is. So it is without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, that I present to you my (FreddysNightmare) Cinema room.......proudly introducing my Samsung 52" 1080p HDTV.........<img src=\"http://i452.photobucket.com/albums/qq247/el_mariarchi_01/PICT0849.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i452.photobucket.com/albums/qq247/el_mariarchi_01/PICT0853.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />

Don't Blu-ray machines upcovert to 1080 anyways? I thought that was a normal function for the players.
