How Bad Was Your First Sculpt ? ? ?

Merry Christmas & happy Holidays, I just tried sculpting my first 1:1 bust and it's much harder than i anticipated. I give you guys a ton of credit for nailing a characters likeness.<b>my question for you is how good / bad was your first sculpt?</b> I understand I gotta start in the little leauge before i can even dream of making it to the majors...walk before you can run, right ?I will post pics when i get home...any feedback or pics is greatly appreciated.

I felt like I was on a pretty good roll with this sculpt. (incomplete in the pics) then I had a surgery that kept me in bed a little too long and the freakin thing dried out. I think it would have been a b*tch to mold anyways. I can always try again/

thanks for the feedback, your sculpts look good.I went to Party City and bought a $5 styrofoam head (that hold the masks on the wall) and i went to Michaels and bought 5lbs of air dry clay that cost me $10...air dry clay sucks, right?Here is my first attempt at Freddy or any character for that matter. I use water clay it's real soft and stays that way as long as you keep it covered. You also use oil clay I'm in the process of using this now it can take detail really well. Hope this helps.

Wow man, did you use a lifecast of Jimmy Hill to sculpt that on? lolI think a lot of guys would recommend first getting the basic human shape right, then worrying about the details afterwards. At first glance, that chin is too prominent and thehead too tall. I'm not a sculptor so can't help with how to correct it but those are my thoughts. Fairplay though, it's already a million times better than I could do! I'll stick to glove building!

Did you mean first FULL-SIZE sculpture, or first sculpture in general?My first sculpture "in general" was really, really horrible. I'd say my mom still has it back at her house, locked away in her cedar chest so I can't destroy it... <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":tongue:\" border=\"0\" alt=\"tongue.gif\" /> I don't even remember what it was. It was either a character from the PS1 game "Parasite Eve" in toy form, or a tiny, 1-inch-tall Myers mask. 'Not sure which was first.My first <b>full-size</b> sculpture is also my first of a human likeness, and it's under construction right now.
