Here is a new sculpt i am working on. This is my hellhound piece that i am planning on making into a large display piece and mask. I sketched out a concept and am working from that with some other creature pics and animal pics for reference. I am thinking about a translucent paint scheme similar to steve wangs on the creatures from "the cave"-just a early thoughtBrianwww.alter-ego-dezines.comhere is the concept sketch<img src=\"http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii225/jap132004/concept/000064.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />and the sculpture so far. I am still considering making the back of the head more horizontal like the concept.<img src=\"http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii225/jap132004/sculpture/hellhoundwip001.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii225/jap132004/sculpture/hellhoundwip002.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii225/jap132004/sculpture/hellhoundwip003.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />

Nice it actually reminds me of the thing from feast. You do awesome work <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumbsup.gif\" /> Is this water or oil base clay? Not trying to get off topic but Im using medium oil base on a sculpt right now and I just cant get that thing to smooth out and when i put lines in for detail clay just builds up around the lines and wont smooth away.. Any advice?

Thanks for the replies. I am using water clay. I can work faster and easier than oil based clay. If you are trying to smooth out your oil clay you can use rubbing alcohol or turpenoid. Turpenoid will smooth your clay almost as much as water on water clay. Alcohol will smooth it out some, but wont cut through as much as turpenoid.Brianwww.alter-ego-dezines.com

Here is some progress pics. I added more form to the back of the head and worked on detailing the creature. I am currently working on the teeth. I will be casting them separate in resin.Brianwww.alter-ego-dezines.com<img src=\"http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii225/jap132004/sculpture/hellhoundwip004.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii225/jap132004/sculpture/hellhoundwip005.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii225/jap132004/sculpture/hellhoundwip006.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii225/jap132004/sculpture/hellhoundwip007.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii225/jap132004/sculpture/hellhoundwip009.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />Here is a detail shot. There are two holes on this side and one on the other which i will cut out of the latex so the inner mouth will be visible through the jaw like my concept. It took a lot of thought figuring out how to do it and how latex would still be able to reach the other areas with the cutouts being thin.<img src=\"http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii225/jap132004/sculpture/hellhoundwip008.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />Here is a pic showing the scale of the piece.<img src=\"http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii225/jap132004/sculpture/hellhoundscale.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />
