Hmmmmn! Interesting issue here with many angles to it.Some masks are indeed exspensive.Depends what you end up with,Justin,s masks aren,t cheap, but the quality reflects that at least,his masks just don,t dissapoint.Then you get the masks of say Jeremy Bohr, unbelievably cheap considering the quality.Then you have the second hand mask that has had more work done to it,for instance it may have been re haired & painted by someone like Justin or Erich Lubatti.Such a mask then becomes unique,one on it,s own, and therefore more exspensive should it come up for sale.Then we have limited editions,first one off the line etc.Depends on what you want and are willing to pay for it.What may seem a diamond of a mask to me may mean nothing to you. "Myers Masks" the most collected of masks,how many people only have one mask and it,s a Myers? Not surprisingly then the scarcer quality masks in this group are exspensive.Those of us that have such masks, should have a little investment there, along with the pleasure of having them.I think I might have two or three kicking about somewhere :thumbsup:

I\'ve been lucky enough to be able to either save or trade in the past for my stuff, but I\'ve mostly sold masks to get new masks. I don\'t want to do that, but if there\'s something I really want I\'d rather sacrifice a piece than save for it at this point...but, there are some pieces I will not part with
As far as Myers masks go, I understand the point, but I also think they are worth the price. Sure, the best ones are the closest to a Kirk you can get. But that means that person would have to have access to a damn good Kirk to use as reference, which we all know is hard to come by. Plus, these aren\'t recasts...we\'ve all seen hundreds of Myers masks that either have \"it\", or don\'t. The ones that have that intangible creepiness I think are worth the money because there\'s obviously a difference between a Psycho and a Don Post \'85. I guess I\'m just saying that in the conversion (the hair work, eye holes, paint job) there is more work than meets the eye. All that work is well hidden because, if done correctly, it\'s going to look like a beat up, flesh colored mask that was quickly painted white and used on screen....the process to achieve that I would say is on par with some well painted veins, etc...
I\'m not trying to start a huge debate...just adding my two cents. And Bill, I hope you know that I respect your view and do understand where you are coming from.

In some ways I agree, in some ways I don\'t, but that\'s why we\'re all different. Though yeah obviously there\'s gonna be a difference of quality between a DP The Mask and a N/O Psycho, lol.
just you know, us po\' folk cant afford to get 5-6 $250. Myers masks, lol. But I\'m not mad, I just know that\'s the way it is. That\'s life. I know I\'m not the only one that wishes they could afford an SSN pt 6 movie mold Myers. But I can\'t, such is life. I was really lucky and able to get money together to get the SSN New Blood Bust, so it\'s not impossible to really save and work towards a piece that you really, really want. You might just have to live off of noodles instead of hamburger for awhile though, lol.
BUT, you \'appreciate it more\' and all that stuff my parents taught me.

ok im a perfect example here. i have no job. i emptyed out my banks account, thenthen i sold art, then i sold hockey masks that i didnt need, then i sold under masks. and if there something i really need i put it on the credit card or trade.

no offense man, and I mean it, no offense meant whatsoever, but dude if I didn\'t have a job or a bank account, not only would I not be worrying about my next mask, I sure wouldn\'t put it on a credit card, lol.
I know when I lost everything, I still came to the boards to talk to friends, but yeah I didn\'t buy a new anything for like a year. It\'s just now lately that I\'m finally starting to be able to collect stuff again.
and Gawd does it feel good, lmao!!

I\'m with you on that one... I certainly cannot afford that either. In fact, there\'s really nothing I\'m dying for except the stuff I\'ve been waiting on for a year now. Once I get that stuff, I feel as though my collection (however small and humble) will be at a point where I am very satisfied with it and if I never get another piece, that will be ok. That\'s how I am with my guitars right now.

And F-R, do you have a Schector 1 piece with dual seymour duncan humbuckers and string thru body construction with a 5 way selector switch that can make your humbuckers sound like single coils?
Did I mention it\'s neck through body and all one piece??

Well for me, i very rarely buy masks these days, when i was younger i bought them all the time, these days i get more fun in making them and i only have the odd piece here and there.
Pricing is always difficult, i do try to work with people, if the bells and whistles version is too much, i can do a less detailed version, but once again, the dreaded exchange rate is the biggest enemy!.
Now though i am getting into hockey masks and fred gloves, i can see a lot more in my future, lucky i have an understanding partner.
