If you are planing on building just one glove, I suggest getting a piece of pipe, that is if you cant find some plate at a reasonable price. I cut all my gloves out by hand with tin snips but be prepared to get carpal tunnel. LOL and as far as the brass, again if you cant find a sheet metal shop that has it. home depot or Lowe's should have brass kick plates for doors, just make sure that it is solid brass and not brass plated
