Fred Krueger Lives Again... - josephchoi - 02-02-2008 how do you expect to make a freddy movie without Robert? He practically MADE the role. Fred Krueger Lives Again... - Crash - 02-02-2008 Hey . . . interesting coincidence here. I was just thinking about this. Seeing as how all of the favorite "big four" horror slasher movies are now being remade, take a look at this. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre debuted in 1974Halloween debuted in 1978Friday the 13th debuted in 1980Now . . . in order of remakeThe Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake premiered in 2003Halloween remake premiered 2007Friday the 13th scheduled to premiere in 2009Do the math. Chainsaw started them all in '74 and then again in 2003. Four years later (in either time period), Halloween came about. Two years after that, Friday hit the screens (in either time period). Weird coincidence huh. All three of these original films' remakes hit the screen (or will) exactly 29 years later from their original conception. And once again, Freddy comes along in order of his original appearance in 1984. Although I'm, guessing it will be much sooner than 4 years after the Friday remake. So that kills the 29 year thing, but does land ANOES in its respective 4th place spot in terms of the year movie debuts.Just thought that was interesting. I absolutely loved Hannible Rising, and I thought the actor who played a young Hannibal did great. So seeing a fresh, younger Fred wouldnt be a bad idea imo.<!--QuoteEnd</div><!--QuoteEEndPuck, I agree with you entirely. If it's going to be a prequel more than a remake(which I sincerely hope they have the sense to do that)then a new actor has to be involved. With the right story this has the potential to be a very disturbing film,Freddy as a human was of course a serial killer of children, the worst kind of murderer. You could end up with a film like "Seven" with the nescassary supernatural overtones in the last half or so of the plot.Re Hannibal Rising, I agree with you once more in every way.The film had a period drama element to it ,which I liked,it also has left a convenient gap from Lecter arriving in the States to starting his killing spree up to being caught. That'll be another book/film of course, can't see Thomas Harris not taking that opportunity. Fred Krueger Lives Again... - puckface - 02-06-2008 totally man, I hope they do another hannibal film and use the same guy, to fill the gap between his arrivial to the states, and what ended him up in the institute Fred Krueger Lives Again... - misfit - 02-06-2008 <!--quoteo<div class=\'quotetop\'>QUOTE</div><div class=\'quotemain\'><!--quotecPuck, I agree with you entirely. If it's going to be a prequel more than a remake(which I sincerely hope they have the sense to do that)then a new actor has to be involved. With the right story this has the potential to be a very disturbing film,Freddy as a human was of course a serial killer of children, the worst kind of murderer. You could end up with a film like "Seven" with the nescassary supernatural overtones in the last half or so of the plot.<!--QuoteEnd</div><!--QuoteEEnd Well, if you remember correctly; Wes Craven has said in many interviews that the Freddy character was intended to be a middle aged (40-50 y.o.) man. Robert would pretty much look dead on to what the original intention was for the character before burns. To put someone else in the role would be complete rubbish, so I'm fairly certain that's JUST what they'll do. I wouldn't mind seeing someone else portraying a younger version for smaller bits in the film, though. Fred Krueger Lives Again... - Krazy Ken - 02-06-2008 With the right person behind this, it could be a great film. I've always thought Freddy had the best back story of any of the main slashers but was never a huge fan of the actual movies themselves except for the first one. But knowing Platinum Dunes they'll hire someone to do another MTV style horror film starring the latest trendy pop star. |
