This topic really hits home to me. I have to agree, Saturday mornings are crap anymore and if anyone here has kids I'm sure you can relate more than anyone. Recently I asked Elizabeth if she had ever sat down with either of our 2 and actually watched some of there shows. I'm not talking just sitting down there with them and not paying attention but actually watching the shows and see what they are saying and such. They are complete crap. I honestly feel sorry for my children. After watching some of their tv with them my little boy asked me what I used to watch so I hit youtube and started looking up the intros to all the shows I could remember when I was a kid. Darkwing duck, Ducktales, Thundercats, Inspector Gadget, etc... I had told Elizabeth that when we were kids in the 80s it just seems like TV was so much more wholesome and always had a positive message. As much as I'm sure we can all make fun of it, the PSAs at the end of GI-Joe were great for that. Other shows always had positive messages such as, Thundercats, He-Man and so on.To my surprise most of the stuff I showed the kids, they thought that it looked stupid, which really kind of hurt a little bit, but then they saw a couple of them that they fell in love with. First was Transformers (original) I showed that to my little boy because he didn't believe that they were NEW when I was a kid. To him it's something that just came out recently and when I tried to correct him he straight up told me that I was wrong. After that I showed him the original intro and the kid fell in love with them. As he watched he jumped up and said "I HAVE THAT RED TRUCK*. In defense of one of my favorite shows I said "No you don't kiddo...that's Optimus Prime" The look on his face when he saw that I was telling the truth was priceless.Immediately he wanted to know if I had the old show, to which I do ( XD ), so we sat down to watch the original movie. After seeing that I showed them both the Thundercats which is one of my all time favorites as well. Both of them couldn't believe how cool just the intro to the show was. I couldn't believe it as well. Since they both liked it so much I broke out my DVDs and sat down to watch Thundercats with my kids while they would watch it like it was some new show. That made me melt. I don't know why...maybe it was just reliving my childhood again, or just knowing that they were introduced to something that was a real wholesome show and loved it. My favorite little "side effect" I guess you could call it was when my little boy Connor was making a bunch of noise down stairs the other day. I went down ready to yell because I knew he was jumping off the furniture or something...when I asked him what he was doing he said "I'm pretending I'm Lion-O and Abbey is Cheetara and we're training". To add to it, he had his little plastic light saber and was pretending that was the Sword of Omens. Now while this might not be a big deal to you...let one of your children stand in front of you and say "Sword of Omens, give me sight beyond sight" while holding a light saber and you'll be speechless too.LONG LIVE 80S TV-Joseph
