Seeing that this is only your second bust sculpture, it is quite apparent that you are a natural sculptor. I have to agree with Frosty on the eyes. Really focus on eye anatomy from multiple sources, not only from your references, but from sculptures, illustrations, and photos of other live subjects as well. And since you want to age the subject, look at images of middle age, and elderly eyes to see how, and where the wrinkles and bags form. Also, look very closely at the profile angle of the eyes. One thing to be careful of with using primarily 2 dimensional references is that it can cause you to flatten certain details. Basically, just concentrate on anatomy overall. Focus on the proportions, and structures on and below the surface. But, hey, I know that you are already thinking about a lot of these things anyway. so, just keep up the good work. One very good resource that has helped me is the forum at portrait-sculpture.com. There are a lot of very skilled artists on that forum.Just curious, do you plan on casting this as a display bust, or as a wearable mask? My reason for asking has to do with the armature. As I'm sure you already know with my work, I hate armatures, and knowing the meticulous level of exactness you strive for in your work, you may find the armature to be a bit of a burden down the road. That is, unless you wish to make this a wearable piece.<!--QuoteEnd</div><!--QuoteEEndExactly what I was thinking. It's looking great so far though, much more like Crawford than before. You have his forms pretty well, just needs a bit of improvement and realism. I know you won't be happy with this thing until a year goes by, so I'm not really worried with how it is now. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"biggrin.gif\" /> ... and yes, a lot of unnecessary, but awesome, "badass-ness" went into that MC replica mask. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumbsup.gif\" />

Thanks for the critique Frosty, James, and Joe...Trust me, I already know the eyes are the sculpture's biggest problem currently, and I will be working on them and the brow line more now that I have some incredible reference for the project. The anatomy/musculature obviously isn't good at this point be due to the sculpture being in its very early stages. I actually just resculpted the chin, mouth, and cheeks to give his lips more of a "pucker", and I'll probably have to resculpt his lips a lot more before I'm done. And this is while keeping in mind that after I refine everything about the *actor's* likeness, I'll still have to sculpt prosthetic appliances and a wig over top of all that, so I've got a looooong way to go with this thing. I will post more pictures as soon as the ears, eyes, neck, and eyebrows look anatomically correct and more accurate to MC's facial structure.James, I'll probably be casting these pieces in resin when and if I ever get around to it. At the current size, the half-mask fits perfectly. Due to that, I want to maintain the current size as exactly as possible. Unfortunately, that rules latex *completely* out of the question. heh. Thanks again, everyone!! <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"Smile\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" /> The help and compliments are truly appreciated.Cheers,Ryan
