Question On How To Make A Gunshot Effect?

<span style=\'font-size:14pt;line-height:100%\'>Hey guys, just curious, I have several blank guns and I was just wondering if anyone is knowledgeable on how to make a squib and blood pouch to simulate a gunshot effect in a fan film. Pretty much I want to show impact and make the shirt rip and blood disperse from the front and back of a victim. I need info on how to make the device and how to set it off (Co2?Electric? etc...). Any info would be extremely helpful.

Unless you\'ve done it before or have great knowledge of it, I wouldn\'t advise doing it now, it\'s extremely dangerous. What you could try is, cutting a small slit in the shirt and wire some aqaurium tubing into the shirt then fill a turkey baster full of blood and at the right moment have the person wearing the shirt squeeze the baster making the blood squirt out.

I understand the danger behind it, I need more of a spray effect, not dribbles from a turkey baster. I have full understanding and have used tons of explosives and weaponry from my job.

Well, this is how we used to do it... Pad yourself where you want to get \"shot\" with a rubber pad or some other shock-absorbant material. Then tape a firecracker to it...not an M-80 or anyhting, just one of those that come in huge packs. Over that, place a baggie of fake blood...make sure it\'s a thin baggie. To the wick of the firecracker, affix an igniter from a model rocket hobby kit. Attach the alligator clips to the igniter and run the wires down your shirt and into your pocket. Now, with a hand in your pocket you can ignite the firecracker and have it blow out the bag of blood. You may want to rough up the spot on the shirt that\'s over the blood so the explosion will rip it. It\'s a little crazy, but it can be a really good effect....but I do need to add this disclaimer:

Ok, I hope you get the point. Personally, the paint gun method sounds like a good way to go. I hold no responsibility to anyone who tries this...we were crazy (i.e. stupid) kids and we did crazy shit. I\'m surprised I still have all major limbs intact

If youre using a condom, make sure you tape it over with electrical tape, but leave a 9mm (or whatever size caliber) square space open to direct the blood out from the bullet hole and not from a big area.

I read this a while back but seach online for "compressed aire gun shot" what it is is you take a tube and put blood in it and cover it with plastic, run it up the actor and in a whole inthe shirt at the right moment htit the compressor and the blood is shot out

this is what i did, cheap and effective, get a dime bag (empty of course)
fill it up with blood and seal it. put a peice of wood or padding taped onto your chest or werever the gunshot will be, put a nice fire cracker (hydrocrackers work best) then tape the dime bag over that ant then ur shirt, be careful and plug ur ears!!
pretty badass effect!
