    i was wondering if anyone could help me out a little. when i put a blank dvdr in my drive it just reads as a cd and wont let me do anything with it. id like to be able to use mt dvd burner, but i cant figure out whats wrong

    are you using windows xp? also, are you using windows explorer to burn dvds? if so, try a 3rd party burning program.

    im using xp, but ill try a third party system to see if it works. thanks for the help

    Also, depending on the age of you dvd writer, there are different formats of DVD's. There are dvd-r and dvd+r , please check your dvd writer to see if it is specifically for writing to a dvd-r or a dvd+r or both.
    dvd-r disc will not write in a dvd+r drive and vice versa. If your drive can write to both, check your drivers. Also, make sure the disc you are using is new and unwritten.
