What Do You Guys Know About The Band Mushroomhead?

I assumed there must be a few fans, here.

I\'m a music journalist for a newspaper and I was given the task of writing a piece on Mushroomhead\'s new album coming out this upcoming week. I just spent the last half an hour with the bassist, Pig Benis.

But considering that I\'m not that familiar with the band....can you give me insight on what you think of the band? (I\'m not looking for band biographical stuff, but more your feelings on how they stand up against other bands in the metal rock genre)


Any help?

Well, they\'re from here in Cleveland OH, I can tell you that much. They\'re an excellent band, VERY heavy shit and people always get hurt at their shows from the extreme pit. Uh, the old singer Jman left and was replaced with some other guy who really blows, forgot his name.

I really like MRH. The new singers name is Waylon.. hes from NC. IMO he doesnt add the pain/depth/feeling as Jmann had.. but hes still kickass, MRH has evolved, as do the songs. MRH was started in 92-93.THEY were the first to wear masks..over slipknot..big dillema with that one. You need to download some songs to understand them, Theres so much depth and sorrow in the tunes..Kickass band!

Thanks Jman V, I appreciate the info. Pig Benis did tell me the whole Slipknot ordeal. I have listened to their music and it\'s pretty cool. I\'d love to see a live show, but I have to have the story in by Friday.

I really just wanted to know if you guys, who are in the metal genre, respected them or if they were considered nobodies, has-beens, or never-weres. From my understanding they have quite the following.

The band was started as a joke from what I know. They were all in different bands, then started Mushroomhead. Originally, they all had different masks, but when Slipknot came out, they were pissed so all went to wearing the same mask. I put them more in the category of Type-O Negative as far as metal goes, more gothy and melodic.
