Anyone know where I can get a good realistic looking axe prop? All the ones in the costume store suck. I thought about getting an axe handle, but not sure what to do for a blade to make it safe. Has to be haunted house/party safe!

this may sound stupid but could you buy a real one and make a mold of it and pour some kind of material into the mold and let dry , like hard foam or hard ruber or something ?

Well, I guess my other thought was to get an axe handle and cut a wood block to look like the head of the axe. Just didn\'t know if I had the time I still have a bit of work on my costume. Those plastic ones just look so crappy!

Get an axe and take the axe blade off and trace it onto a block of foam and do the proper cutting and weathering. Not that hard.

I was also wanting some fake prop weapons. I was wanting one that has a real feel to it.

I want a axe, chainsaw, and machete. I was planing on doing some fan films a while back, and my friends really want to also. I just want to also know if anyone knows where to get a rubber chainsaw or axe?

If you make one out of rigid foam, it ends up looking super great but as soon as dumb-@ss at the party comes over he goes "hey cool duh" *snap*

Do they look/feel realistic? I\'d be interested.

I used this method, but traced it onto a block of wood the same thickness as the axe head. I then sanded it down to taper to a point. It worked pretty well I think.

    Good luck!
