I totally agree with you Tommy.I have not not been into collecting mask but maybe 3 years or so and only a member here a year or so.I use to always be really excited about posting new scores.Like you said 9 out of 10 times you have a smartass make a belittling comment about it.There are some really wonderful members here that have always been helpful when someone has a question. You will always have the few bullies who have a smart comment no matter what the topic is.I believe this makes them feel superior to the new collector, new painter, new mask maker, or what have you. When I first found this forum, I was really syked about being able to talk with people who were schooled in mask collecting, painting and so forth.Granted there are many helpful members, but the longer I have been here the more nervous I have become about posting a piece I have worked on or asking questions.Just for example, I have never painted a hockey mask only latex mask.I was wanting to post a few questions about painting hockey masks but I thought to myself nah, someone will have a smartazz remark and I did not post my questions. I can say its a blessing to have a forum like this to come and sale items, inquire about things, and find out whats new in the collecting community.People should really appreciate it and not take it for granted......

thanks for the comments again guys. I think i am going to take to heart what alot of you have said and not let those members get me to the point where I no longer post or enjoy the hobby. You guys are the reason I have been a member of this board for this long...that and this Justin Mabry guy that allows this board to keep existing. Ya know, I really think he is a cyborg placed here by an evil alien menace, but I cannot prove it....YET...take care,Tommy

I've got to agree with you Tommy. Though part of the problem I don't post too much anymore is because my collection hasn't gone too far and that no one seems interested in my topics

I myself am a new guy here, but so far I haven't had the displeasure of someone being a dick to me yet. Although in the short time I've been here, I've seen this attitude spreading like freaking wildfire towards many others. It sucks big time. I REALLY hate people with that elitist, "holier than thou" attitude because they think they're more talented, or they have a bigger collection, or whatever. How about we all start talking to each other as equals, and maybe, just maybe, give constructive comments and criticism rather than just acting like there's some goddam handbook of horror knowledge that everyone gets handed.

I agree Tommy....I also hardly post anymore.I think the genesis of this problem is that the group of us who joined the board back in 2004 have seen most of the original members leave the board for one reason or another. Who has replaced those members are much younger members while the original 2004'ers are now 5 years older. There's definitely a small generation gap growing here. The other thing that seems wildly different from five years ago is the fact that there used to be a "No Swearing" allowed rule. What ever happened to that? I remember the entire board used to jump all over a newbie who dropped an "f" or "s" bomb back in '04. Now it seems everyone swears and no one cares.

Well said Tommy. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumbsup.gif\" /> I agree with you. I myself am a member (just for about 1 year now) and i always enjoy looking at members new scores/sculpts/masks/new sculpting-painting projects or other collection stuff. It is really nice to see that people can share the same interest in collecting (movie masks/props/costumes/gloves etc.) especially "Horror" film related stuff. It is a shame that there are members who are nervous/affraid to post pictures of their new scores, or their new sculpting projects, or new mask painting projects, or affraid to ask questions, because maybe when they post, maybe they will get a negative reply. From day 1 that i became a member here i have always enjoyed this forum and still am because of the creations that members make and because of the beautiful mask/prop-collections that members have. When you receive a new item (a mask/or prop etc.) a "new" score or an "old" score, then imo you are very proud of it and want to show it to other members, and it should bring you lots of joy, that is imo what collecting is all about and it should not give you a "nervous" feeling like: what will happen when i post a new topic with some pictures of my new score/or my new costume how will people react, should i post pictures or should i not post them.......) there's a recent topic by member psychosocial91 in the off topic section titled "Has Anyone Ever Noticed". prime example of people trying to make someone feel stupid. check it out, and read some of the pointless replys
