This is very cool. As much as people dislike "remakes" I see this more as a new branch to the story. Freddy is such an incredible character, I really hope they put together a great storyline and keep the character alive for a new generation of fans.I'm comfortable with Jackie Earl Haley taking up the role, especially after his great performance as Rorschach. He'll definitely be able to bring the dark, evil side of Freddy out.

I HATED the idea of a remake, until I heard the rumor that Jackie Earl Haley was being asked about the role. He did a great job as Rorsach and I feel he could bring some real fear back to the character. His face is so distinct and different, I think he will make a great Freddy.

It's official everyone! While the first links said they were in final discussions, this new update confirms the selection. Jackie Earle Haley is the new Freddy!<a href=\"http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/15803\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/15803</a>I think it's a fantastic choice. He has the body and facial structure to really pull off an awesome looking Freddy.

Wow......... I'm actually a bit gutted about this. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":confused:\" border=\"0\" alt=\"confused.gif\" /> I was rooting for Robert Knepper. I have never heard of this Earl Hayley fellow but I suppose thats a good thing really. If this guy can make Freddy scary again then I think the fans will be happy.........thats IF he can pull it off.
