I got a Part 8 hood from BELLAMY that I absolutely love, but I am having an issue I have never had with any other mask... the paint is rubbing off! And I mean if I handle the mask even with sweaty hands, my hands turn black and I can see where the paint is starting to wear. Anyone have any suggestions of what I can effectively seal it with in the next 2 days to make it more durable for my long weekend? I don't have time to order perma-wet or anything like that. I am hoping someone can recommend a home-brew type fix for this, something I can go out to the store, buy and use. Non-toxic would be a huge plus. I thought about using Liquitex acrylic gloss medium thinned with water, any thoughts? I am open to suggestions!!THANKS in advance!!

Maybe a few coats of krylon crystal clear, they sell gloss and flat finishes,Just make sure each layer dries before adding the next, and light coats are better than 1 heavy coat...Hope all works out! Take care,Hector

Fortunately I have all3 kinds of clear Krylon makes. Unfortunately, I don't know how well it would hold up on a mask that is made to flex and stretch. Anyone tried it?

You have to get clear coat that is intended to flex, I know Autozone has it.Or permawet or something similar. Don't use non flexible clear it will flake off and ruin it.

I have used krylon clear matte, and satin finish and it worked great. But like was said 2 very light coats about 12 inches away, no heavy spraying. Weird that the paint is rubbing off like that, i have never had that problem with a one time painted mask. Now repaints, that happened with me on a mask once.
