I saw the first showing at the local IMAX and this movie killed.......... probably the most beautiful film these eyes have ever seen......... and shall I dare say it????...... Possibly the best epic action film eva! Controversial statement I know...but believe me when I say...this movie kicked azz.Sure the basic story has been done before.....but man oh man.......The action and visuals were breathtaking....... The CG and Live action seamless.......... The 3D perfect.......... Awesome film. Made me feel like I did when I left the theatre with pop and grammy back in 77 after we saw Star Wars. Yes, this film makes you feel like a kid again. I left the theatre with wonder in my eyes. I dont think I have felt that way since Empire Strikes Back or ET. Yes Aliens and Terminator 2 were awesome...but not epic like this. If you have not seen it yet........ See it now.

I went to see it last night. I went in thinking I would not like the film as from trailers I thought it looked a bit disney like with all these "blue people," lol and I dont really do those kinds of films but oh boy was I suprised........I am a fan of James Camerons films having seen and loved Terminator 1 & 2, Aliens, and the Abyss I thought this film should be good too. Avatar blew me away. It is eye candy all the way through with a strong decent story and great characters. I was utterly gripped from the start to the credits. When this comes out on Blu - Ray I am buying it up right away its awesome peeps, go see for yourselves and enjoy! <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/woot.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":woot:\" border=\"0\" alt=\"woot.gif\" />

I saw it last night and I have to say that I dont think I have ever seen a more beautifull film(in cg of course)It was well worth the money and I don't say this about CG movies much.Textures, lighting, camera angles and movement, vehicles, aircraft, creatures were all outstanding..my one question is..Why didn't they use some CG on the human Segourney Weaver?...She def' needed it.J

Completely agree. It was just a pleasure to watch. If you don't see it in IMAX 3D your not doing the film justice.

I really dug it. I didn't watch it in IMAX but the digital 3D was also AWESOME.

One of the best films I've seen this year...And the best 3-D I've ever watched hands down. Amazing!

LOVED the film.saw it 2 Xs, in 3-D and IMAX 3-Dfor me IMAX was way too over the top...sitting 20 feet from a 40 foot screen was a bit too much...and i love in your face action, but it's a gimmick, i will never go to another IMAX again.
