<b>Most of you have said what I thought as well:Jackie did a great Freddy. The rest of the cast were bland, and the story was rushed. Nearly EVERY Freddy scene was just a jump-out-at-you scene. If you've ever been a fan of horror, not a single one you wont see coming. This played out like a handbook for everyone who's seen a Freddy movie. Not giving new viewers to the character a chance really. Every other character in the movie basically knew what was going to happen to them within the first 5-10 min of the movie. Didn't like that. Also, I think the 2nd death scene was so great (imo) that nothing after really lived up to it. Each were pretty bland. And could they get a more unattractive male to play the lead role? Guy looked worse than Maggie Gyllenhaall. But, it was fun and I'll definately have it in my collection.</b>

here goesBad: storyline felt rushed, no real character development, a few cgi burns, again the cgi effects get rid of them, the scare your girlfriend jolts of noise were over the top, the parents acting was horrible.Good: the teens if you want to call them that, there acting was good. story followed the original close enough for me, more back story and they drove the fact freddy was a molester in with a hammer and stake. not sure if thats a good thing lol, but atleast there is no confusion.Jackie earle haley: if you can get past the fact that hes 5 foot nothing with a gaint head he played a pretty good freddy. the more i watched him as the story went on the more i liked his protrayal... i still dont see anyone doing it like Robert though. he will always be freddy.all and all i liked the movie, i read a few reviews around the internet and i expected a big pile. so i was surprised it was well done. if you condsider the original to be a 10 out of 10.. then i would say this remake is a solid 6.5 out of 10. definitely better then halloween and friday the 13th remakes.

SPOILERS: I woke up this morning thinking - ok the 10/10 film I want exists in the footage and editing room. I really think had they eliminated just a few things in order to flesh out a few existing things it could be VERY good. Here are my next day eliminate and flesh out list items:ELIMINATE: - Some of the lighting on Freddy's face and just leave him in the dark. Less is more, especially when more = CGI.- The several times too many that the parents are in the film. The acting on the parents part was not great and we don't need a half dozen shots wasted on wooden glances between them.- Freddy's amount of dialogue, especially at the end, again, less is more, him screaming at Nancy "you did this to me" or explaining to here what's going on is too much. I liked the creepy, "You smell different", grunts and laughing - it's terrifying actually.- Lastly - the ending, UGH. Ok bring him out - and burn him, I liked that - but the cutting off of his hand and near decapitation is WAY too much. How bout you knock him to the floor and burn him alive. LOVE that. The CGI on the very last scene where he attacks Nancy's mother - it would have been so much better if he had just been a reflection in the mirror behind her mother and Nancy was left screaming - the glove through her CGI eyes - again too muchWith these eliminations hopefully the below could be salvaged from existing footage:FLESH OUT:- every kill scene: The first one, have him wander around in the kitchen longer with Freddy looming. Show more gross pig stuff. The actually kill was great. Kris's - give her more time to mourn her dog or just take it in. Something about this scene is really horrifying. A dead pet - maybe add some whimpering sounds and then for her actual death - when she's being thrown around - add some blood (even if it's CGI) with every hit. The kill was great but really lacking in the blood all over the walls. The sound of bones breaking too perhaps. The boyfriends kill - I don't know - I wasn't a fan of the actor here or how quickly it all happened, maybe just draw out the hunt a bit. Nancy's final hunt - was great. I'd actually get rid of the face reveal in the closet and just make it a vocal "found you" - keeping her pinned down on the bed was great - very uncomfortable to watch. Less talking would have been even more so - more breathing and twisted sounds of enjoyment would amp it up big time. This is a really good movie and I really think it's got a ton of DVD potential - I'm going to see it again this afternoon. Right now I'm with most everyone else that's posted - the good is about as good as the bad, it's an even split for me as of this moment.

<b>I watched it last night and enjoyed it. I thought there was a lot of nice artistic imagery. I was pretty impressed by the final moment of the film, it was very well done. A lot of the visuals in the film were fantastic, and as much as people aren't digging the new look of Freddy, I thought it was absolutely great in action. If your going in expecting the original, your not going to get it. If you go in with an open mind, you'll come out happy.I really enjoyed the first hour of the movie, but as Platinum Dunes tends to do, they started going so far up their a$ses with the plot and it started becoming too much. I loved Haley as Freddy, and I loved him unburnt. The kills were decent, and the costume was great. I like Rooney Mara, no complaints with the teen cast. Some of the editing was very choppy at parts though. The pacing of the film was a little too fast, going into the film as soon as it starts... But the score was nice, and I liked the classic elements incorporated into it. I loved the cinemetography except when PD uses that certain style where there are a lot of yellows and greens.</b><b>SPOILERS:</b> The plot changes they made were nothing to get upset about, but I just didn't enjoy the movie from the point where they get in the car crash onward. There were some great clips in that time, but for the most part I didn't enjoy them ending it at the pre-school and dwelling into the past of Freddy. I loved some of the kills, and Jackie Earl Haley's acting was great....up until the last 20 minutes or so where they started throwing him stupid one-liners from older ANOES films.... I ABSOLUTELY HATED Freddy's death.... They couldn't stay elegant, they had to slice his f*cking hand off and then slit his throat, WITH A PAPER CUTTER??? Such a PLATINUM DUNES move.... come on guys.... Especially ending with the line "Your in my world now beeeoootch!".... I thought remaking these films they would LEARN from the crappy one-liners... It's equivalent (well, maybe not as bad) as their Friday one-liner "Say hello to Mommy for me...In hell!".<b>Still, overall I thouroghly enjoyed the movie. As I said, some great imagery, Jackie Earl Haley was nice, no complaints on the make-up, and it had the dark element ANOES has been lacking. If you are questioning seeing the movie, don't. Go see it, get your own opinion. You can't always trust our opinions, voice your own. I for one enjoyed it for what it was, a reboot.-Jon</b>

Went to a midnight showing also. After a 45 minute wait due to technical difficulties the film finally beganI agree it felt rushed and you could see every scare coming a mile away.Stuff that bothered me - The credits - Looks like they had a cool idea to do them in chalk, but then they superimpose other titles right over them. It was distracting, like they couldn't decide which to use so they just lumped 'em both on there. The "kids" - These high school students must have opted for the 15 year plan instead of the regular 4, cuz they didn't look too much younger than the parents. The direction - Yeah, I get it, that's Nancy. I don't need multiple close-ups of her name tag to drive it home. Just one will do. Oh look! There's the Elm Street sign - lets focus in on that. Boo! There's Tina (oh, sorry I mean Kris) in the school hall being dragged away in a bloody body bag. Wait a minute, now she's standing in the same spot she was just dragged away from and there's no blood on the floor. Guess we can add editing to this list too.The end - The confrontation between Freddy and Nancy was way too short and left me saying "Wait, that was it? It's over?". Was it horrible? Not really. Was it good? Not really. It's just kinda "there". I don't feel like they stole my money but I won't be seeing it again in the theater and I have no plans to buy it on DVD or Bluray when it comes out.

Does anyone else feel that the last 20-30 minutes of the film, they completely changed who Freddy was? The dialogue started to plumit as well as the voice and character. The look still remained strong, but the acting from the point they <!--coloro:#000000<span style=\"color:#000000\"><!--/coloroget in the car wreck <!--colorc</span><!--/colorcjust took a huge turn.

SPOILERSIn my opionion, this is the best NOES since 1984 and the best PD remake so far. Jackie was scary as hell and I LOVED his voice, especially his creepy laugh and the way he sounds when he gets pissed and yells in a deep voice. Englund never seemed really pissed off like that. Freddy is definitely way more evil than he's ever been. I was really pissed off when I found out that they turned him into a molester because I thought there was no possible way that it would be as frightening as a child murderer. I was so against this that I protested it all over the internet for months. I was wrong.First, the molestation stuff really helped me to feel for the characters and actually care for them...more so than in the original movie. Especially when nancy sees what Freddy did to her in the photographs. I thought her acting was very strong and I can't believe some people are saying that they didn't care about her. I definitely did. She's not supposed to be the strong-willed Nancy of the original. This Nancy is very sad and damaged on a subconscious level from what was done to her as a kid. Also, the workbench and "cave" underneath the preschool were SO disturbing and frightening. It also seemed very plausible and a reminder of how screwed up this world is. When the parents find the claw marks on nancy, I couldn't believe it. That was so messed up. What Freddy did to the kids really was more evil than killling them.

I felt the pacing of the film was a bit too fast, but considering I wasn't looking for much in this remake (or should I say "expecting much"), I actually enjoyed it for getting into things right away. This truly reinvented Freddy. If you're a diehard ANOES fan, and uncomfortable with change, I don't think you'll like this movie. This isn't even close to the Freddy we've all grown to love. His motives are different. He is far more menacing (whether that's for the good or bad).I thoroughly enjoyed Haley's Freddy performance. He made the roll his own, and that's something Platinum Dunes was looking for. I was concerned with his voice from the trailers and released clips, but when I finally saw it on screen, I was blown away. I'd also have to say, his "look" was incredible in this one. The behind the scene pictures, screen shots taken from the trailers, and one or two released pictures, do not even compare to how it looked in the film.Samuel Bayer did a great job in my opinion, especially for a first time film. The imagery was intense and unique. I know some people didn't like the editing of the nightmares, but I feel it's odd cut style is what defined its creepy feel. Nightmares don't have to make sense, and things change in them all the time.At first I thought I wouldn't like the new style, but considering it this way, I think it's great to have two different versions of Freddy (the classic VS the modern). As others said, this film was neither good nor bad. Either way, if you're a horror fan, it is certainly worth a look. I'd certainly put this film as Platinum Dunes second best remake next to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

I thought the movie had some great concepts mired in a crappy script that sort of picked up towards the latter half. From the beginning to about halfway through the film, it felt disjointed and rushed. I don't know if it was the way it was written, or if they had to cut down a lot for time's sakes, but it just had no flow or pacing at all. I'm hoping a lot had just been for their sake, because the writing blew a lot. The characters all hint at something that I felt could have been great. They all had the whole "secret past" thing going on, but it just wasn't explored to its full potential. A lot of the development with the characters felt way, way too rushed. It went literally from one, to the next, to the next that felt like a chunk of the movie was missing in between. It sort of got better in the second half when they started take a bit more time fleshing things out, but the ending just kinda fizzed out, which left me feeling somewhat disappointed. GOOD:Jackie Earl Haley. I was on the fence about how he looked and how he acted because he wasn't Robert. Well, he still isn't Robert, but that's okay. He was for me the only actually GREAT part of the movie. He throws in a few sneaky Robert-isms while having the character be somebody new, which I really liked. Some of his lines really leave you with a WTF impression because it's so twisted. I actually thought the actors for the most part were pretty well casted, except for Kris. The Rod clone of the movie I felt he really did try to do the role justice. The way it was edited though just kinda killed his character before freddy did (is this a spoiler? Rod died in the original so...) it was like having snippets of good acting. Without the whole context behind him, it just didn't come to life. I also felt Quentin was pretty good. He has a good delivery that made some of the cringe-worthy lines bearable. Nancy was also good. Also, great concepts. Things like micronaps and the consequence of sleep deprivation et al were great plot points. It really helped with the tension of the movie, and just gave it that sense of desperation. Also, as many others mentioned, the child molester freddy. Good stuff. BAD:The script. Too fcking terrible. I just cringed at some of the dialogues, and I'm the guy who can enjoy Yor: Hunter from the Future. Just... the lines were so badly done, it felt like a hackneyed sales pitch by old people trying to sound "hip". The script was just disjointed towards the beginning as well, as well as rushed. I just didn't care for the characters. The parents of the movie... I don't know if it's the lines they were given or what, but they were not developed at all. It was just frustrating to have them hint something only for it to not be explored to full potential. Plus, Nancy's mom reminded me too much of Sarah Palin and that bothered me too, because they both are (the character and sarah palin) do stupid Sheep. In fact, all of the parents bugged the hell out of me because they didn't do ANYTHING.
