I personally don't feel that it lived up to the hype that it got . The movie felt rushed and the dialogue was very poor . I thought the stupid sexual jokes towards the end weren't as funny as everyone else did but that was just me I guess . I was hoping to see more back story and maybe the courtroom scene . Hopefully if there is a part 2 then it may be better .

That was a change I didn't like. In the original, Freddy was a "filthy child murderer". That suggests he molested and then killed the children. Then he was arrested. Then it went to court and he got off an a technicality. Everybody knew he was guilty but he got away. THAT'S what drove the parents to form a mob and burn him. This new one, he's just a molester and they just take the kids' word for it and go burn him. I got the feeling that was so they could throw the "was he guilty or not" aspect in there, which FAILED HORRIBLY on-screen.The more I think of it the less I like it.

Here's my review. I have never seen a Freddy Krueger film on the big screen before. So, last night was full of excitement and anticipation. I went in with an open mind and tried to block out the original film. So, here it goes:I loved it.The good: Jackie Earle Haley makes Freddy sicker, badder, and more twisted than ever before. It's a completely new Freddy. Robert Englund will always have a place in my heart as the original Freddy but I am definitely clearing some space for JEH. I truly enjoyed his version. Spoiler: <!--coloro:#424242<!--/coloroThe scene where he is on the bed with Nancy pinned down was very disturbing. The molestation aspect of the story gave it a fresh feel but also an uneasiness about the character.<!--colorc<!--/colorc It made Freddy come across as a truly sick and evil person. I want more JEH! My favorite line by Jackie in the film is definitely "Why are you screaming? I haven't even cut you yet." It's SO twisted and mean. The acting was quite well done. The scene with the best acting IMO, was (spoiler) <!--coloro:#424242<!--/colorowhere Nancy and her mother are talking about how she's been lied to about her past.<!--colorc<!--/colorc I actually really started to feel for Nancy. She's truly troubled and she really hasn't known why all of these years. I didn't feel that there was really any scene where there was over-acting or bad acting. So, I didn't get pulled out of the experience the entire time. The CGI. I must say that this is BY FAR my favorite look for Freddy. The Part 4 look on Robert has moved to 2nd place for me. This new makeup is grotesque and frightening. The CGI looked FANTASTIC on his face and I give it three thumbs up!Overall, I was VERY pleased with it.The bad: I did feel that the first half of the film was rushed. I felt that there was very little character development. Basically, my review would come across EXACTLY like the official review at Horrorbid. Just a few more scenes to see the characters in their normal life would go a long way. Maybe see more interaction with their parents or something as well. The story moved VERY quickly. Death... scene... death... scene... death. I enjoyed the second half of the film much better. It had much better pacing and I cared much more for the remaining characters. I guess it's better to enjoy the second half of the film than the first half, right?Kris' death... (spoiler) <!--coloro:#424242<!--/coloroI honestly was a bit underwhelmed by this kill. I honestly I wish the sequence would have been in reverse. She's struggling and then SLICE and THEN she gets thrown around the room. Spread the blood around and make the scene look much more violent. Surprisingly, the original (I know I know.. I shouldn't compare... but it's nearly impossible NOT to when it's the same death scene) was MUCH more bloody. Kris' death was instantaneous when she got the slash. I guess I wanted that scene to be more drawn out and longer.<!--colorc<!--/colorcThe Freddy coming from the wall scene. I must say, thankfully this scene is very short. I do not understand why CGI was used instead of practical effects. The CGI could have definitely been better. The ending: (spoiler) <!--coloro:#424242<!--/coloroI simply was disappointed with the ending. Brad Fuller made me strongly believe that the bed spewing blood scene was in this film. I told him on his Twitter account that I REALLY hoped that Quentin meets his demise via a blood fountain right at the end. Brad's response to this was, "I won't let you down." But there was NOTHING about Quentin at the end. The last we see of him is in the ambulance and that's it. I was quite disappointed. Brad... you let me down.<!--colorc<!--/colorcSo, again.. overall, I was very impressed with this film. I just absolutely loved Freddy in this film. If anything, he is THE reason to go see it.

I just got back from it and eh...........I give it a 3.5/10. It started off good and then just kept getting worse.SPOILERS BELOWSPOILERS: Was slow moving and boring at times since we know what to expect - kids having dreams of Freddy then realizing they all have them and......what's going on, what do we do etc. with a total of about 10 minutes of on screen Freddy. I also wasn't big on the way they portrayed Freddy as a snivling little wimp who really likes little children a little too much. They then showed him running and screaming like a girl, hiding in a building before being burned. Then came horrible writing. First they thought "He's after us because we lied" which actually would have made a lot more sense since they could have made the children at fault for Freddy getting unrightfully burned to death, hence why Freddy is after them rather than the parents. Then it went to "Oh, he's after us because we told the truth" which is dumb. The ending........they couldn't have thought of anything else other than "you're in my world now beeeoootch" with his throat getting slit? Seems familiar like it already happened in FVJ. Maybe I'm being too critical but the more I think about the film I just saw, the worse I think of it. Now I'm kind of not looking forward to a sequel. 3.5/10 since it's Freddy.........I guess.

Just got back. Jackie was great. I wasn't too crazy about the makeup but I love the glove. The movie itself wasn't bad but I just found myself bored at times. I'm glad they went back to making Freddy scary but still mixed in a tad of the comedy. This has little to do with the film, more of a pet peeve but does anyone else feel the desire to smack the sh*t out of the kid that played Quentin? Every time I see his a** in a movie I want to smack him. He has this stupid look on his face all the time.

Ok, back from a second viewing and I'm much more encouraged. I enjoyed it much more the second time around. SPOILERS: this Freddy is very nasty. I like the portrayal VERY much. I also didn't feel it was as rushed the second time - it definitely has a fast pace. This movie takes place over what appears to be not even a weeks worth of time. Three main things I'd change - - Kris's death - as KniveGloves mentioned above - if it had been done in reverse and the room covered in blood it would have been so much harder to watch and truly horrifying. - Jesse's death - it makes no sense, how did he die in real life? He was in a cell?! I'd also loved the bit about having "6 more minutes to play" - it would have been great to see Freddy really slash him up.- Freddy's "death". CRAP CRAP CRAP - cut off his hand and then slash his neck? it was far too short - and why not just torch him and maybe stab him. The hand coming off and the neck slashing was far too fake. It is very anti-climatic.TOP 3 favorite parts:The first kill - OUCH. Kris finding her dog and Freddy appearing in the shadows is so disturbing and my favorite is Nancy at the end being held down and tormented by Freddy - it's so sick, less spoken words from Freddy would have been nice but still, a really amazing piece.Going again tomorrow for a 3rd viewing - I'm hooked and we may not see Freddy on the big screen again for a very long time.

But it's impossible to make a movie that appeals to everyone. What I want to see might be something that someone else doesn't want to see. If only we all had the power to make our own version of this film. I still love it though! Going again tonight!
