The Babalities don't seem to work in the Fatality Training mode. You have to be in an actual match for it to work.

I think you just have to put the commands in. I unlocked the 2nd Fatalities in the Krypt before I found that list but I hadn't unlocked the Babalities and stage fatalities but they still worked.

I heard Sony announced that PSN would be back up within a week. As far as adding a friend, after you can log back in go to the far right of the crossbar, then go up. There is an option to search for a friend by user name. Once found, you have to send a friend request. It's really easy to do.

Finally beat Challenge Tower the other day. The last tower wasn't as hard as I had anticipated. The hardest challenge was 251 where you play a Shang Tsung and fight Baraka, Sindel and Shao Kahn.
