Mask Painting Question

I got a certain white mask blank recently I want to mess around with and I was wondering, should I do the trimming and slit in the back first, or last? I know it may sound like a dumb question, but I am used to painting latex pieces for costumes, I have never finished a mask before, but always wanted to try!

Im not a pro by far, but i would cut first. That way you dont have to go back and touch up if cut last.

I agree cut first and then paint.
