i have the upmost respect for the guys on this forum especially for the mask makers.... you guys do stuff that i can\'t even fathom... i find it to be amazing whether or not its 100% accurate it still is amazing... i have been lurking around looking at these masks for a while and the first website i found was goalieterror, then through the board i found out about other mask makers out their and finally was able to buy a mask from mega over at ecs1, its not screen accurate because i ordered it to be a custom mask. i can\'t be any happier with it, wish i had a digital camera that worked or i would go pic happy

i know of a few people here that can pretty much make a hockey mask to perfection, when talking about accuracy. its not that hard once you get your methods down. and as far as the obsessive-compulsive thing goes, i am ocd and i mean big time. its what it takes to detail a mask correctly.. well that and love for the hobby.
the thing is, if these accuracy-obsessed people actually got a screen used mask, i can almost guarantee thier dissapointment in the quality. the film used hockey masks are pretty much cheap thin props, thrown together in a timely fashion. they don\'t have to look that good because the camera and lighting will make it look more than it is. dmc gets a lot of slams, but the hockey masks that we mask makers create look so damn good compared to the screen used masks. on film, a dmc Hockey Mask, with their usual \'shotty\' paint jobs and speckled detail that dmc masks seem to be famous for, would look great. in the movies, the masks looks like they have a nice, perfect, smooth, blended look with the color. however, on this forum, there are people like mike, dean, and myself that make mask\'s color look very smooth in person<--very important thing to remember. we could start making them according to how they look in real life, but then we would be considered \'bad at making masks\'. anyway, we just need to all get along and stop arguing with steve(goaliehack). he\'ll make you feel dumb.

Okay look, what you want to do, recast the nose and first 2 holes WILL NOT WORK period. Bad idea. Either live with what ya got, use some bondo and fix it by hand, or get a new mask. So let that end it, no more questions bout this please.
Oh and for the record, if anyone is concerned with accuracy, GT and HHM should NOT be in your vocabulary. To me, those are 4 letter words, and an insult to the masks I own and buy. |
