There are people who hate the original Halloween (Carpenter) b/c there wasn't much blood or gore. If that type of movie tickles your fancy, stick to Saw, the RZ stuff, Hatchet, vintage Argento, etc. and you're good to go! Trick R Treat really wasn't a kids movie, although I can see how parents could be misled. It hit a lot of the right notes to bring out the Halloween spirit in most of us. Not a blockbuster hit, but it will have a cult following regardless.
