I personally don't like the 3D when the film is made and knows it's in 3D. Apparently Avatar in 3D doesn't have any shot that knows it's being shown in 3D. Example... in the movie Monsters VS Aliens, there are a few shots such as a guy playing with a paddle-ball and the ball flies right at the camera in order for the audience seeing it in 3D to be wowed by it. But when viewed in 2D... the shot just doesn't make any sense. Remember when Jaws 3 was shown in theaters in 3D? Some shots were only meant to have an affect in 3D but when viewed in 2D... it looked just plain stupid (though it looked stupid in 3D already... 2D just made it worse). A film that used 3D really well was Disney's A Christmas Carol. Looked amazing in 2D but the 3D just enhanced the imagry. I don't like it when films break that 4th wall.
