It's funny though.. as a knee jerk reaction, I don't want 3d.When I really think about it though, it's just because of the inevitable "poke gags" and also the distraction that comes when a 3d segment doesn't work well for whatever reason. Both are anti-immersion factors that I feel can ruin a film. However, a rumor has started regarding the possibility of Clash of the Titans being changed to 3d while having parts reshot (shooting wrapped already, but the managers didn't like the way some scenes turned out). They're headed out for at least a partial reshoot in January, wrapping in February, intending to keep the original release date. There's been the suggestion that they may switch over to 3d during that time. At first I was like NO.. forget it, leave out the gimmicks, but then I thought of the previews with the Kraken sitting there at the end of the lagoon(?) in the dark, with a dark fog enshrouding it and tentacles emanating from it, and suddenly I felt pretty cool with it. I just hope it's easy enough to rush in GOOD 3d as an afterthought, rather than preplanning the film around using it.From what I understand, it works as a depth of field enhancement on Avatar, but I can't imagine it'll be put to good use in Jackass. The 3d effects are much more cost effective to get into a film these days, and I guess the industry is beginning to view it as an improved way to watch films.. Rather than be gimmicky, they seem to feel that it's the next step in the evolution of films. (from silent to sound to color to 3d). So for me, I guess it really depends upon which film we're talking about. In my opinion though, if the film isn't already a "feast for the eyes" type of thing, it probably won't gain much by being in 3d anyways, so what's the point?
