I think there is a fine line here. making copies of CD's and selling them is illegal however making a copy for your self so you can listen to one and preserve the other is legal. If he owns the orig mask and makes a resin copy to preserve the mask is this really wrong? I mean so long as he is not selling it I don't see an issue.
