This could be many different things. You might have something blocking the shift lever, stuck shifter cable, bad torque convertor, no fluid, fried gears, ect.. Transmission problems are definatly a tricky thing to diagnose unless I can actually drive the car. You are better off towing it to a transmission center to get it taken care of immediatly.
