Trouble Setting My Avatar

can anyone help me with my avatar? when i try to upload it says error but my pics are the correct size. any help would be greatly appreciated. i'm sure its something simple im missing.

the avatar upload option does not work. Upload the picture you want to use to a picture sharing site and just link it.
