I think you have the right idea. And you seem to realize what's wrong with it. Don't give up! It's all about the facial anatomy and space between things. I'm working on an 07 myers right now as well. I printed some different pictures of the mask and cut them in half, some vertical, some horizontal. Then I find a good distance between my eye, the picture and the sculpt to make them appear the same size and line them up. It has really helped me with the expression and form of the mask. You might give that a try if you think it could help you..I think auzorann's advice is on point. I'd also say you should work on the overall shape a bit more. Looking at the pic, the contour on the left side looks better than on the right. The head is shaped like an egg. Maybe shave off some of the temple area on the right side. I hope you don't scrap it man.
