well, i own two dells...and i would never ever recommend them to anyone i know, even my worse enemy. I have had nothing but trouble from them....within two months, my dvdrom/cdrw drive stopped working. Dell tells me "so sorry" we dont deal with third party hardware anymore and tell me i need to call toshiba...i call toshiba...and they direct me back to dell. Then the power supply burns up on my other dell in less than 6 months. I call to order another one....they keep telling me its not the power supply...its not the power supply...even though i figure it is. I think, well they know what they are talking about...so i got a new motherboard from them...almost 200 bucks for it....and it WAS the damn power supply. They have only live a 7 day send back policy...and i wasnt able to install the motherboard until i had an off day...so....i lost that money and still had to order another power supply from them. All they could say was "so sorry" . Finally....whenever you do call tech support, at least in my experiences, i can never understand them. Every tech i have ever talked to accent was so thick...i couldnt understand a thing that they said...so it was always "could you repeat that?" over and over and over....i know its not the tech person fault either...because they were having trouble understanding me as well...no all of this tirade is just based upon my own personal experiences with Dell, maybe someone can even my bad review out with a good one...

that sucks tommy Sad i\'ve had my dell for couple years now and have had no problems with it at all, im going to school for computer technician degree so i do all the technical stuff myself on it, so never need to call support, but that was different on my gateway years and years ago, mines been wonderful ever since i got it, guess sometimes theres bad ones out there just like anything else Sad but going custom built like off ebay or someone in ur town is quite cheap also, I know I can look in the trading post here (not sure if others have anything similiar in their area) but its a bunch of stuff for sell from people around here and theres usually good computers in it for cheap since computers lose value so fast, but ebay could be a good way to go, whichever u do good luck man!

I\'ve used dells before at school and they were the biggest POS ever. They gave me nothing but error and problems. We had about 20 of them at our school and they messed up constantly.

Rcuomo, just like anything in life you\'ll find that there\'s nothing perfect in life. Dell, Hp and Alienware are all great computers and as a IT support tech buy what you can afford and stay away from referbs. Your just going to buy someone elses problems. Hope this helps

I found this Emachines PC for about the same price you\'ll pay for that one.......

Better specs like more memory, better CPU, PCI-E, and HD....

Dells blow!!! Thats what we use at schooll they suck!!!!! I havent had much luck with anyother company made machines, I use a custom built one at my house, and for the first time in 2 years i\'m having a problem which I need to get fixed.
Anyways, I would go to a computer store that offers re-pair, which they probably offer custom jobs, talk to him about what you are looking for in a system, and you get the squared away, then have them build the system, I might even be a bit cheaper, depending on what you aree putting in it....which basic stuff is pretty inexpencive. Hope that helps you in anyway steve!
