In my opinion computers made by companies are garbage because when something breaks you need a part from THAT company. Your best bet would be to just buy a cutom built computer off ebay. I bought my tower fully finished for $150 shipped off ebay and that was 4 years ago. Nothing has went bad, nothing has broke, and it still runs like a dream.

    That\'s just my opinion though.

HP does make a damn good computer and not all computer companies are crap. I would say the only thing that is bad on the computer is the graphics card but if your not a major game buff then you won\'t need an expensive graphics card. It has a nice sized hard drive and a good amount of RAM, and a dvd rw drive which is also great to have.

Looks like a decent system, if you don\'t mind refurbs. Personally I\'d upgrade the RAM to at least 1gig with a burner...but if you don\'t plan on doing a lot of other stuff while burning, you\'d be ok.
Haven\'t heard great things about HP\'s tech help, but I don\'t have first hand experience, just what I\'ve been told.

Yea and you could always put in another graphics card no problem. you could also upgrade it to a gig of ram which is better and helps but whenever i burn something i usually leave the comp alone anyways.

I guess since there is only a 90 day warrant, the tech help shouldn\'t be an issue...and you could install whatever you like after that. Only systems with a full warranty (ex. 1 year) would need to be fixed by a certified HP tech = $$ + HP parts (as Fang said Smile ).

I personally have an IMAC G5 and have never had a single problem! as far as an hp?..i hear they are good pc for your basic stuff as well. but get some kind of warranty if it offers one.

IMO dell is great. i\'ve had loads of problems with gateway, but dell has a $299 offer right now thats not bad. When I bought mine it was the month for a free 17" flat panel upgrade and a free printer, so it was all good
