I just pay 10 bucks for the disposable cam's.You know the one's with the little fishy's and the pretty coral reef drawn on them.I too need to get with the time's and go digital.

    I am a photographer and there are some good points made...I personally prefer Canon products...They are a little more pricey but they have lots of fun features...Things you should look for as an amateur... 1) Ease of use 2) 7 mega pixels or higher 3) White Balance Function (this allows you to keep out that nasty tungsten or florescent color with out using the flash to override)Canon A620 is my recommendationExamplesLow Light<img src=\"http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/sansker22/Maniac.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/sansker22/CopyofOutsideManiac032.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />Florescent Light with a white balance feature<img src=\"http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/sansker22/ManiacNO.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />Out Doors(Hazy Day)<img src=\"http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/sansker22/HorrorConvention038.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />Miscellaneous<img src=\"http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/sansker22/Copyofstudionemesis046.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/sansker22/stands.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/sansker22/Copyofstudionemesis020.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />

I recommend the canon powershot s3is. About 380$.. i also bought a canon 100mm macro lens for extreme closeup shots. That was around 400$, so i really have more in the lens than i do in the camera body. With that lens i can take the exact pic like puck did with the penny, and get even closer to view the detail in the copper!!! WITHOUT magnifying or editing the pic!!!!These pics were taking without that high dollar lens.. just the camera in SUPER macro mode::::<img src=\"http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t96/jasonv1235150/IMG_0909.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t96/jasonv1235150/IMG_0660-1.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t96/jasonv1235150/IMG_0660.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />
