I had a feeling something crazy like that would happen. That is what happens when you know nothing about a last minute fighter, and you are pissed/confused about not getting who you prepared for. Kimbo's old "street rules" worked against him here, as he was lost once he went down and could not recover to get back up. But Kimbo was not ready for this type of fighter in this type of environment. He will most likely make a good come-back, hopefully against Shamrock. He is tough, he just needs more MMA skills. But at heart he is still a straight on street-fighter who swings for the fences. Kimbo is also a rookie, even more so than his opponent. Petruzelli has done MMA his whole life, Kimbo just started it. Kimbo was not prepared for that type of fighter yet. He probably underestimated him too. But Kimbo needed a humbling to grow as a fighter. This was pretty much a fluke and really proves nothing anyway. Some will probably say that it was stopped too quickly, and that Kimbo was tough enough to take more abuse. I checked the tape, and it was basically a slip that he could not recover from. Kimbo moved forward too fast as usual, which I doubt he would have done with Shamrock, and got jammed by Petruzelli's leg kick, and his back foot slid back. Petruzelli was all over him then and Kimbo could not recover. He is used to "street rules" and having the person back off until he can get up. If anything I think MMA is softening him, he needs to pick one style or the other. Kimbo was laying there and should have rolled and covered up, but he was never in that position before. But like he said, this is a professional organization and his old mindsets are a thing of the past, and he expects as much in return. He should not have accepted the fight under MMA rules, only if they could go outside in the alley and fight his way. Kimbo was also very professional about it in the end. Give him credit, he fights anyone they put in front of him and had a good start regardless. Also a TKO is not a KO. His head was messed up from the change, you could tell. Kinda like Rocky 3. Most are uneducated though when it comes to the details of all around fighting. They just see the wins on youtube and assume he is invincible regardless of where he fights. As Shamrock said, Kimbo is not used to fighting skilled MMA fighters. He better get used to it, or back to the streets or boxing.Weight means little in MMA, in fact speed and technique is a huge advantage. Royce Gracie was outweighed by about 100 lbs by wrestler Dan Severn, and still won from his back under the old rules. Heart, endurance, and technique won in the end. Kimbo is just a tough street fighter who underestimated a smaller MMA fighter, you could see that by how quickly he moved in. Petruzelli was scared crapless, you could tell in the stare-down and how fast he retreated. He fed off of that fear and adrenaline and used it to his advantage. Kimbo was out of it, and was trying to shoot the referee. You can bet Kimbo won't be rushing like that again, which in fact is not really the true Kimbo then, but an MMA skilled fighter, which he needs to be. I just wish the fight with Ken went through so that we could have seen if the training for that paid off. I think all strategy went out the window and he just winged it, which works for him in the streets, (anyone, anytime, anywhere) but not in MMA.

Kimbo did get stuck with a good jab while in the middle of throwing the haymaker, and got knocked off balance between that and the kick. He was just trying to wind up and knock off Petruzelli's head, and paid for it.

Priceless. It was only a matter of time before Kimbo went down. They can only feed you cans for so long. Funny thing is though, had Kimbo faced Shamrock he prob. would of got the KO victory.
