I'll say i was expecting something a bit different when I went in - albeit I feared a repeat of Kill Bill with Brad Pitt playing Uma Thruman's role and the crazy 88's being less japanese and more german - but I was pleasantly suprised witht this film. By far Tarantino's best work. It was awesome to see a war movie focus on the impact that the movie industry had on morale and depiction of the enemy instead of just a bunch of mindless shooting. Great Flick!

How unexpected your guys' responses! I hope no one went on my recommendation and then was disappointed. Perhaps this film is for certain type of film fans. Like I said in a previous post, if you're looking for a bang-bang blown 'em up-every-second-of-the-movie-movie, then go see something like GIJOE. Don't expect to see silly jokes about "Pussy Wagons" & "Royales with Cheese." This is for people who appreciate the art of well-delivered suspense and dramatic flare (a dying art in a world of the short-attention span). Please don't take this thread wrong and assume I'm encouraging anybody and everybody. I'm blown away that people can find this dialogue boring. This film's dialogue wasn't even the random, pointless expletive-filled banter that Tarantino includes in his film to make the kiddies laugh. The Basterd's dialogue was all geared toward delivering suspense while completely fabricating and revising history! What studios have the balls to do that? I could understand someboy being bored in a true story movie - where you knew how the film would end. I was enthralled by this dialogue because NO ONE knew where the dialogue led to and subsequently how this story would end.I'm really surprised that people found anything in this movie boring. Then again, I'm always surprised on this board when people talk about how much they love Freddy Vs. Jason, Hostel, My Bloody Valentine, and 90% of the other crap that Hollywood regurgitates for 12-16 year old crowd.

I went to the midnight showing of this, where I was suprised to be one of the older folks in the crowd, and the film recieved a standing ovation - I'm really suprised to hear so many people thought it was boring. I love when Landa orders Shoshana a glass of milk and you spend the rest of the scene trying to figure out how much he knows about her, and if that pastery will be the last thing she ever eats.

I think I went in with my expectations way to high, I didn't expect to sit there for 2 hours 45 minutes listening to people talk. I thought it was going to be a movie about just the basterds and they're crazy Nazi scalping adventures. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"laugh.gif\" />

Well, he did. I was disappointed by this film, I don't understand how the Basterds were such a small part of this movie, and the rest was just talking. This wasn't his usual smart talk dialog, it was BORING. I wouldn't see this movie again to be honest.<!--QuoteEnd</div><!--QuoteEEndShut up Kyle....Flashback humor? <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/teehee.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":teehee:\" border=\"0\" alt=\"teehee.gif\" />

I'm hoping to see this movie tomorrow or Tuesday. I love Tarantino's movies, especially the dialog. As long as it's not as pointlessly talky as Death Proof (He went a little overboard, dialog and action disproportionate), I think I'll like it.

Just got back from it, and I loved it! Tarantino really knows how to weave some high tension into his dialog. I loved Aldo's last line, as I do think this is Tarantino's masterpiece. And holy crap Diane Kruger is freakin' sexy. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"blink.gif\" />

Must say... there are some good parts in the film and yes.. the dialogue was well written and well done but I too found too many scenes to simply be too long and very boring. I just lost interest. The movie is named "Inglorious Basterds" yet you don't see them as much as you would expect. It's like watching Transformers and hardly ever seeing the robots. It is a good film... but for someone like me who goes to films to truly be entertained, I could only stand so much yadda yadda from the people on screen. But I agree.... that opening scene was GREAT. It's just too bad that other scenes are nearly 3 times as long and don't get really suspenseful until the last minute. One of those films where I could easily fall asleep only to be woken up suddenly by a brief action sequence... and then fall asleep all over again.

overall good film, but the only part that really held my attention were the bastards. while the rest was still okay, it just wasnt as enjoyable as pitt and his crew...Ive never been a tarantino fan either, so that says a lot, I suppose....
