Hello NIGHTOWL members. My name is James, I am a new member here and just wanted to introduce myself. I have been sculpting for a few years now But still have a WORLD of knowledge to discover when it comes to the art of Mask making. I also have a few questions. In my experience I never noticed a difference but approx how much does a latex mask shrink after it has been cured and is ready to paint ? I am in the process of sculpting my first Myers mask and was wondering if some of the experienced sculptors on here could help me with a few dimentions ? How thick should I sculpt the head and neck portions if I want the mask to fit a 23 1/2 inch head comfortably ?Thanks very much.

Depends on the stone used too. I use #1 pottery plaster which is said to expand and contract. I get larger castings from Pottery then ultra cal 30 which is very dense and doesn't expand or contract .about 10 to 15% is right. if pulling a mask form a 2 piece mold for limited production to fit 23 1/2 head it would need to be around 25 to 26 "

I am using ultracal 30, and thank you so much for the response Justin.
