Said Goodbye To A Friend Today

She got in one fight too many this morning, (I got to break it up, yay! ) and her owner decided after 10 years (the dog has cancer too) that she\'s getting aggressive and it\'s time to go. So after the dogs were seperated PJ (the dogs name) get her wounds cleaned, we took a couple pics, and off to the vet she goes.

So yeah, interesting day so far. You can see some of her wounds in the pics. It was a pretty terrible fight. She was the aggressor. And no, I didn\'t get my hands anywhere near them or the teeth, we\'re talking about 2 80 pound pit bulls going at it.

I found my steel toes to be more then effective in getting them apart.

But yeah, of to the dog house in the sky she goes. With the exception of the past year she\'s been a pretty good dog. There was one other incident where she tore another dogs belly open and killed him. But that dog kept trying to mount her and she wasn\'t having none of that.

So anyway, yeah, interesting day. Just thought I\'d share.

Very sorry to hear that, always sad to hear that a defensless animal is to be put down. I have had my dog since I was 4 years old. And hse was already 2 or 3 years old then. So it jsut makes me very depressed thinking about it lately, becuase I know she doesnt have much time left.

yeah she was a sweet dog. I used to take her on walks, she even found a pair of metal handcuffs once while we were walking, which was pretty hip.

But yeah, can\'t have an 80 lbs dog running around that\' starting to show signs of being senile and stuff. We got little kids that run through the house all the time.

and all it would take is one time, you know? A little kid is no match, we\'re talking severed limbs and shit, it\'d be ugly.

i know how much that can hurt. 3 of my dogs die last year, 2 for cancer and one cuz she was very old!

Yea, dogs get pretty touchy as the get older, and only let certain people touch them. Its pretty ugly if you arent that person. :unsure:

Well I\'ve known the dog off and on for 10 years, but lately here I\'ve become more attached to her, taking her for walks and stuff.

I\'m more upset for my friends and the owners, they\'re pretty upset. Plus it\'s the first big dog fight I\'ve had to break up. I don\'t particularly like kicking dogs.

Plus I felt like my balls were just a little too close to gnashing teeth. :blink:

My dog died last year, well was put to sleep, becuase her bladder was infected. It was so hard to see her in that much pain. I was depressed for weeks.

Sorry to hear that Bill, never easy to loose a pet. You have my sympathy. Did the right thing though, would have been so much worse if you were forced to put her down after an attack on a child. Take it easy buddy.
