February 26, 2009 - Michael Bay's production company Platinum Dunes is gearing up for a return trip to Elm Street.Bloody Disgusting reports that the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street begins filming April 27th in Chicago. Samuel Bayer will direct from a screenplay by Wesley Strick. The site has posted a casting call notice for the film, which reveals who the other major characters will be besides the villainous Freddy Krueger. The female lead is Kris, a smart, sexy and confident 18 year-old. Quentin, 18, is described as the "Johnny Depp" of this version, the mysterious and cool indie teen who runs the school podcast. The other characters are also all 18 years-old. Nancy is smart but not very social, and looking to leave her hometown behind after graduation. Dean is the rich, handsome jock, while Jesse is described as an "alpha male" who used to date Kris and is trying to get back together with her despite multiple breakups.Source: <a href=\"http://movies.ign.com/articles/957/957391p1.html\" target=\"_blank\">http://movies.ign.com/articles/957/957391p1.html</a>I like what I see so far. A couple of tributes to the first two films (Nancy & Jesse) and it sounds a lot like the kids from my own high school. Rich jocks, shy girls, outgoing smart girls, desperate guys trying to hook up with the pretty girls, etc. Sounds realistic to me so far.

Hmm, sounds pretty interesting. Slasher Asher...you should get something better to do, man. No disrespect intended, but you go on an on about boycotting remakes and shit like that, yet YOU KNOW that they'll be made no matter how many people boycott them. They'll be made no matter how many online petitions are signed. Just GET OVER IT.

These are people who can't do anything but copy something that has already been done. The ring leader of this group is the film Anti-Christ himself, Michael Bay. He's a hack director, explosion fetishist and producer of practically every whored-out horror remake that will bombard the multiplex. By seeing his films you've literally given your money to the worst, most no talent, most derivative man working in film--EVER. Thanks to you, Bay will never have to worry about paying for his Botox treatments or his cocaine and prostitute funds or whatever else he might spend his not-so-well earned paychecks on.You will have many more opportunities to redeem yourself by avoiding films that will be coming out that you've already seen. These will be overblown, inferior versions of movies that you have already seen. Films such as The Karate Kid, Near Dark, Footloose, A Nightmare On Elm Street, The Evil Dead, Back To School, The Warriors, Last House on the Left, Poltergeist, Hellraiser, Child's Play and The Birds are all being made or about to be made. Plus, by far the most moronic, insulting remake in the history of remakes: Bonnie and Clyde with Hillary "I'm a freakin' teeny-bop singer and not an actress" Duff playing the role of Bonnie. Yes, Hillary Duff. If that doesn't send shockwaves of anger through you, nothing will. The films I just listed have already been made! Just head down to the video store or put them in your online queue. You can watch them, guilt free, any time you want and you won't have to give idea deprived scumbags like Michael Bay and his ilk a cent.

i am having nightmares already about the upcoming A Nightmare On Elm Street "remake". LOL <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"biggrin.gif\" /> as a very huge A.N.O.E.S. fan, i really hope that they will make Freddy Krueger look creepy as hell and not turn "the remake" Freddy into a comedy character, in something <u>like this picture below</u>.i really hope the makers don't disappoint the fans all over the world. It better be good.<img src=\"http://fotos.fotoflexer.com/49161df5c54a7aac0fe5450a94a3caea.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />

yeah, I like some of the new remakes. It brings in newer people over to our community here. And not to mention that a few remakes are actually good. Hills have eyes, TCM, Friday the 13th, The Hitcher, Halloween '07, those are the main remakes I like. Im not even really a Freddy fan, yet I do wanna see this reimagining or remake whatever of Nightmare On Elm Sreet. Michael Bay works for me. He's no Wes Craven, but he's done a few pretty good films like Transformers, Pearl Harbor, etc..
