With halloween on the way I've decided to get round to puting together a costume I've thought about for a long time - my own maniac costume inspired by 80's slashers - in fact it could be thought of as an extreme Jason Voorhees makeover.Instead of Jason's famous hockey mask, I've always like the vintage Mylec hockey mask - so I picked one up, sanded it with coarse sandpaper, cut it with a stanley knife and weathered it up.I paired it with a cheap(ish), good-quality full head halloween mask - "Prince Charming" from Don Post Studios - this one's especially good because it has no slit up the back and it just looks like an 80's slasher. At the moment I've got it on a display head with some spare plastic eyes I had.The rest of the costume is to come.....

Looks good. I actually have wanted to do a custom Jason for a long time and had this Hockey Mask in mind. Got any pics of the undermask?

    Thanks guys. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"biggrin.gif\" /> <!--quoteo(post=334020:date=Oct 11 2009, 05:42 PM:name=sirbrad)<div class=\'quotetop\'>QUOTE (sirbrad @ Oct 11 2009, 05:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
<div class=\'quotemain\'><!--quotecLooks good. Got any pics of the undermask?<!--QuoteEnd
<!--QuoteEEndI considered a flesh hood, but the size of the openings in the hockey mask really mean that there has to be facial features (especially eyes) under it. I then considered some of the great deformed hill billy type masks and zombie masks that I came across, but in the end I decided to go for something a lot cheaper (like, half the price) - I also didn't think it was worth getting a REALLY nice mask as you're not going to see much of it under the hockey mask. I just wanted something that covered the full head, preferrably wasn't split up the back and looked kind of deformed/mutated. In the end I went for this:And until most promotional images of masks, the mask that arrived actually looks EXACTLY like the mask in the picture.Working on weathering up a shirt, will have more to show soon.
