Star Wars In Concert

I know some of you guys are Wars fans and wanted to see what others think. I just got back from the one here in Cincinnati. I liked it a lot. The exhibit with the original props was pretty cool too. If you're a SW fan and it's coming around to your city I recommend checking it out. oh man that would've been amazing to go to . I could've gone to the Indianapolis one but that's today and I wouldn't have the time to get out there . wish i would have known about it before but maybe they'll do it next year mike,

I went to it when it was local in Tampa, Florida, last month. A friend bought two tickets; one for him and one for his dad, but his dad bailed, so I got his for the price of parking. I definately wouldn't have gone otherwise.. it was like $50 per head after all the ticketmaster mark-ups.They did it at the St.PeteTimes forum.. The museum was focused on the lesser films (newer films), and was fairly small, which was a slight letdown. The 501st here had advance admission and stood amongst the displays. I was more impressed with some of the 501st costumes, just because some were accurate depictions of the original trilogy rather than the newer stuff. Vader and C3po are always cool to see though. If you never got to see them at the museums when the exhibit toured, then this is a tiny little taunting slice of that absolute heaven you missed. Some of the T-shirts sold there were kinda' cool but high-priced, they're on that official site you linked to. The Program was like $30 and I figured there's no doubt that although it'd be cool to get, the pictures didn't seem like they'd have exclusive images or anything. They didn't have that "AMJ deluxe fan pack" or whatever it is on the merchandise page.. now THAT I would've bought, but that might only be availible through the site. I thought I might get a program through a friend of a friend that works at the forum, but that was a bust. I'd still like one for my wall one day, so maybe that Fan pack is something I might go for.. I'm glad you posted that link.One cool thing was that although we had nosebleed seats, we found someone there who upgraded our seats. Look for someone standing in the access aisles to the seats with a stack of tickets in their hands. At first they only seemed to be upgrading those that showed-up in costume, but eventually they were doing it for most folks. Of course that's something the Forum does, so I dunno' what it'll be like in your neck of the woods.My non-spoiler review of the show itself though.. well.. keep in-mind that I have little hearing in my left ear (explosions are bad for you, m'kay?) and very good hearing in my right. After the show though, everyone agreed that the Times Forum wasn't built with any kind of accoustic considerations to speak of.. The sound had a tendency to bounce off the walls and so that resulting split-second echo was a bit distracting for me (especially since when I faced the stage, my good ear was getting most of the bounce). The folks I've spoken to that went all had a similar issue with the accoustics, but I don't know if it was as bad as what I was dealing with... Most said it didn't affect their enjoyment, and I guess it didn't distract me TOO much from the show.. just sometimes.Also, since I was on the side of the arena, my head was turned the whole time and it bothered my neck later... course I'm not a young guy so take that with a grain of salt.Essentially the show is a series of filmclips with Anthony Daniels narrating. Some of that editing selection was incredible, and they captured the feel of the films or the characters (they focused on characters and storyline, telling the story through it's characters a bit.).. other times it seemed a bit too random, but never truly disappointing.When it came to discussing C3PO it was.... nevermind.. no spoilers Stay for the encores, they're worth it, but it's a long show. I don't recall how long it ran, but it seemed like a satisfying length.All in all.. I'd love to get the videos they showed on DVD to check them out at home.. it was a great presentation/narration. As for the sound? accoustics aside, it was really cool to FEEL the imperial march deep in your chest... There's rarely an oppourtunity to do that, and until it happens, you just don't know how cool that is. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" />

I trooped the concert here in Portland a while back. We had a great turn out from our local Garrison, and it was nice getting to see the costumes and props early before the general public was let in. Also, the Han in Carbonite display was only available in our special changing area and not in the arena, so it was nice getting to see that.Once people started entering the arena, we were all mobbed. I got whacked in the bucket by a kid with a lightsaber, but luckily no scratches. I wear a ROTJ TK uniform, so I hung out near the Ewok display in front of the Endor photo backdrop. Really fun.The show itself was amazing, and really well orchestrated. Awesome pyro effects, and at least in Portland, the acoustics were nice and the show sounded great.
