Here is the most current look at my Michael Crawford as "Phantom of the Opera" sculpture. It's around 50% complete, and all anatomical forms are entering their finalized shapes before I begin turning "the actor" into "the monster." As mentioned before, I'm trying to sculpt MC himself somewhere between 40 to 50 years of age for a make-shift anatomical study - <i>before</i> I begin adding any of the "Phantom" deformities and wig over the right half of his head - to help improve my understanding of the muscles in a human body and how humans age. (In addition to the attached pictures, scroll down to my reply for some reference photos of the actor himself.)He still needs all the Phantom prosthetics, hair, and <u>all</u> fine detailing including wrinkles, pores, and other fine adjustments to the face and neck. I'm also unsure how the Phantom's iconic "custom clothing" will be added...I may sculpt that, too, even though it will be INSANELY HARD to do and way beyond my current abilities. heh. Anyway, I'd love to hear what you guys (and gals?) think of it so far. Criticism is extremely encouraged. Any ideas for how to add the clothing will be appreciated and considered.<img src=\"http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h98/MoonlitDevil/P1290809.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h98/MoonlitDevil/P1290812.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h98/MoonlitDevil/P1290814.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h98/MoonlitDevil/P1290816.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h98/MoonlitDevil/P1290818.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h98/MoonlitDevil/P1290821.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h98/MoonlitDevil/P1290823.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h98/MoonlitDevil/P1290828.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h98/MoonlitDevil/P1290804.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h98/MoonlitDevil/P1290806.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />Thanks again for looking and cheers,Ryan

A lot of life in that sculpture already. I would recommend making the eye openings smaller, unless that counts as a fine detail. Looks great so far, my friend.

Enh, personally I'd like to see Michael Scott as the Phantom, but to each their own I guess.Seriously Ryan, that is really looking nice, fantastic attention to anatomy ALL NEW SCULPTORS SHOULD GO TO SCHOOL ON THIS PIECE I'm really looking forward to seeing the progress of this piece, I love the idea of sculpting the actor first, then the appliances ontop. It'll have the look of the actor wearing stage makeup, not just the character he's playing, which elevates this piece to a beautiful esoteric art of art imitating art, imitating art. And without Garfunkle that's golly gee willikers hard to do Wink

Keeps the character rooted in reality.

Ryan, it's looking more impressive with each update man! <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumbsup.gif\" /> I feel this thing needs two things before you get the prosthetic appliance started:1) Expression in the eyes and mouth. Go through pictures of Crawford as well as him as Phantom and see which stands out the most to you.2) Depth between the lips. The nostrils and lips are the most shadowed areas on the human face.Other than that, keep up that kickass work man!Joe
