Need Some Serious Help Here...

Well, ok... I sent a package to Vancouver, Canada using UPS about a week ago with all of my masks in it for a trade to a board member here, Cold Ethyl. Now, I did exactly what UPS told me to do, and filled out everything they gave me. Cold E. just got a call today saying he needs to go pick the package up. Now, they\'re telling him I put a $95 COD charge for him to go and pick up the package, which I did NOT do. I don\'t know why he has to pay any money... He\'s not going to, and I don\'t blame him.

What I was thinking was this... Is there a way he can just get the package without having to pay that absurd ammount of money? Or can I get it back and send it to him a different way?

They were insured for $300

Thats why!!! They will have to pay duty for the masks, always say the value of whats inside the box is $20 or less when shipping to another country

That might be it then.... If you said the contents are worth that much theyve charged duty... for example I know when DMC has sent me a package they say the mask is worht $145.00 and they insure it for that much... then when I go to pick the package up I gotta pay $35-$45 in duty... it sucks... that why ALOT of mask makers shipping for the USA will put it at a valueof $10... to avoid us getting nailed for duty... and then will insure it for the actual value...

PS JV666... I would either A front the cash for that OR get the items sent back to you... there really is no way around this at this point... unless Ethyl just pays the $95???

GOD DAMN IT! See, I got the masks insured for what they were worth because UPS lost a mask I sent before... and I never got payed for it. I was just trying to play it safe, I didn\'t know this would happen...

Not a COD, he\'s being taxed on the price you listed everything as. Little trick by the Canadian gov\'t, they tax us on everything we import, so if you listed your masks at a value of $250 or so, that would be what the charge to Cold Ethyl is, the tax on that plus handling. I am not sure if you can avoid that charge now, since it has been taxed I kinda think it must be paid one way or another. I would check with UPS though, there might be a way to have the package returned to the sender (you) that would nulify the charges, and then you could just reship it. If that works though be sure to list the value as $10 and the package as a \'gift\' on the customs forms, they can\'t charge gifts $10 and under for some reason. Thats the way I have to have everything shipped to me and it always works, unless someone (wink wink Steve) forgets and ups the value. Good luck man.

Like I said check with UPS, you might be able to get a RTS thing. (return to sender)
