\"Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.\"

American companies control major operations in many Arab countries. Not allowing DPW to do business in America simply because they\'re Arab would not be good for American companies (oil production operations) trying to do business in Arab countries.

I\'m not saying I support Bush, I am just saying this is not as big a security issue as the media makes it out to be.

Quote:1.) A \"United Arab Emirates-based company\"  is NOT Iraq.
2.) The UAE is NOT buying \"US ports\" the UAE is going to manage those ports
3.) The UAE would only run the business end of this deal, while the Coast Guard and PSA would maintain the security end.

Quote:1)Of course the the UAE is not Iraq, I\'m sure at the moment Iraq ranks very low on the list of threats to the US.
2)The UAE is fully buying US ports.
3)The local police is protecting my town, I trust them alot less when the UAE buys the town out and starts signing the cheques.

1.) I didn\'t say the UAE was Iraq, the topic starter did.
2.) what I meant was these ports are not going to become a foreign country, BUY sound like they are buying land in our country.
3.) that\'s a good analogy, but like I said, it only gives us a reason to step up security

I am not going to get involved in a debate, no matter how you pick apart my post and try to pinpoint my false information, it is a hell of a lot informative than this...
Quote:Did you hear about the new story? He sold some major U.S. Ports for ships to Iraq or somewhere. The port in Texas is right beside a major millitary base. So Iraqs will be right by the U.S. I guess if they want to bomb us it will be a little easier for them to work their magic.  Man.. I just love Bush.
[post=\"143546\"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

again, I will say I do not support Bush and the majority of the things he does, I am totally opposed to this deal with he US ports. UAE aren\'t our friends. Bush is about money, pure and simple...but, ya know, that would be heading toward a debate sort of thing Smile

BTW...UAE has agreed to delay the takeover of US ports/facilities until further notice

Political debates are such a turn on for me.... lol. I\'m glad to see that there are still some people that keep up with current events as opposed to the "whatever" approach.
Just be careful not to offend.

My only advice is to not get your news from mainstream sources...the mainstream (corporate) media in the U.S. are nothing but players in today\'s government affairs. Some people say it\'s the "4th estate of the government".
I\'d say if you want to get more accurate info, get it from either foreign sources, or alternative sources in the U.S. and abroad.

A great alternative network, that happens to be global is http://www.indymedia.org
