I had a lip ring in the left side of my lip that I took out along with the one in the right side of my lip and I just kept my labret because of my promotion at work. (I am an escalation and problem resolution team lead in the 5/3 bank technical helpdesk) After I took the lip ring out of the left side of my lip scar tissue built up and I had a marble sized ball there. Yesterday they cut it out. SO this is me as of this morning. And this is me before hand, see the big ball in my lip?

back when i worked at a tattoo and piercing shop, i would always tell people of the possibility of scar tissue build up but no one ever believed me. I am glad you got it taken care of my man...and congrats on the promotion as well...Tommy

yeah, some ppl dont believe that it can come from a lip ring. PPL at work are like all that is from a lip ring? Im like sure is. It has been there since last May. I went and saw him originally back then and he said wait about a year to see if it goes down any, and of course it didnt. I wasnt gonna wait until May because I am getting married in June and didnt wanna look like Frankenstein in my pictures(though that would make for a cool wedding).

Would that scar tissue have shown up if you had kept the ring in?

probably not who knows, it was just when it was healing. Tommy would be the expert on that though <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumbsup.gif\" />

not really an expert because when i worked there i was apprenticing to be a piercer. Patsmear would actually be the expert on this one since he has been piercing for like 100 years...lol...i kid, i kid. But anyway, if he had kept the ring in, then no, the scar tissue would not have built up like that. It would have built up...but not to that extent. Please remember that scare tissue, keloids, etc....all dependd completely on that particular person and their body. A good rule of thumb would to be think of all the times you have been cut, scraped, burned, etc.... then think of how it healed. Some people's bodies just automatically build up an assload of scar tissue to compensate for the wound. It's one of the great unknown mysteries of the human body....again...glad you got it taken care of bret....Tommy
