hey guys, i know that a while back i done a poll on which sculpt do u guys think that i should do and now im gonna do a H1.....im finally buying supplies to start off a kirk style sculpt and the most important part of the sculpt that i am getting saturday is a 1970's William Shatner life mask.......i have also ordered 50 lbs of WED clay and an full head armature.....i already have all the sculpting tools in hand so when the sculpt is finished, all i will have to buy then will be molding supplies.....if you all will, please post any comments so far about anything that u think may help me along the process....as for a set price so far when its finished, they wont be expensive......probably between the $150-$200 range....thanks,Chris

you will have to go through a long process if you are gonna do a clay pour.you will need oil based clay you can melt and a silicone mold of the shat face....tommy

i personally feel that H1 has been overdone and has been for a real long time . maybe try something that nobody has made before or there are very few of . you could always make a poll and ask others waht they would like to see made and then sculpt the winner . that or just go for a different myers like 4,5,6,H2O,8,RZ . but H1 is just flooded and you can easliy make H2 from the same mask of course . just my 2 cents mike,

Well you COULD make an alginate mold, instead of silicone, just for a quickie. It may cause more shrinkage though.Oil based clay is what you need to use, because you can melt it down. If you already ordered 50 lbs of WED (which is enough for maybe 4 full masks on an armature lol) you should go for something that hasnt been so overdone. Claypressing is perfectly fine, I was just letting you know the method you picked isnt the greatest. WED isnt claypressed, it doesnt melt down.

does anyone know where i can get oil based clay???? and how exactly do i melt it down???? but yeah, i already knew that 50 lbs of WED would do about 3 or 4 full head armatures.....but i think wut i had in mind was i thought about doing a silicone mold of the life cast and then doing a claypress....but do i do a silicone mold or plaster mold???

You can get oil based from Monster Makers....put it in the oven to melt it.
