My little man is nearly 5 now. A while ago, he wouldn't go anywhere near any of the masks I have as he was a little scared at the sight of them. I had him here with me for a few hours yesterday and he now seems quite fascinated with them and asks loads of questions about them. He especially likes the NIGHTOWL part 4 .. and he even talks to it...it's quite amusing really! Perhaps he will end up being another NIGHTOWL board member and horror collector! Who knows. HA, good question! My daughter FREAKED out the first time she saw my NO mutant. LOL. When I wasn't home she would make my wife turn them around so she wouldn't see the faces. That was about two years ago. Now she just thinks I'm weird!

good topic my friend. i have had my daughter in my maskroom daily since she was about 3 months old. i didn't want her to be frightened of any of my stuff so i would encourage her to touch them and pick them up (when she was big enough to do it wihout dropping them). she is now almost three and all was well, then one day we went downstairs for our daily maskroom visit, she stopped dead in her tracks and said "scary daddy". i seriously almost started crying. so, calmly i tried to explain to her that the masks were just rubber, they could not hurt her and they are nothing to be scared of, blah, blah, blah, she was not having it. after all my hard work i had been taken out at the knees by something unknown to me. so i did some investigation, well, my mother in law was watching the kids the day before and apparently they were playing downstairs and my daughter wanted grandma to take her in the maskroom and grandma said that she didn't want to go in there because it was "scary". so, for the last 3 months or so, damage control, i have been going downstairs with my daughter and i would be in the maskroom and she would play in another part of the basement but i would leave the door open. every once in a while she would peak in and then go back to playing. it took a while but she now comes in and plays a little but doesn't seem frightened of anything in there. she loves my masks again. don't force them and curiousity will get the better of them. i had to sit down with the mother in law and let her know the deal. while i really don't want her in there anymore that she wants to be in there, if my daughter wants to go in, just take her in for a minute, and don't call it scary or anything that would frighten her away from my hobby because it is very important to me. she is a cool lady and agreed to follow my rules.i have a 6 month old and i am doing the same thing with her. my oldest even already has her own pt 3 SSN hok and a NAG clean scarred myers mask, and she loves them. check out the pics. mike<img src=\"http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h124/msharrow1414/IMG_0986.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h124/msharrow1414/IMG_0120-1.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />

Ha...I think every board member with kids will agree that this is a great question!My first son is almost 4 yrs old now and the "room" has been present in our house his entire life. He wasn't scared of them at all during his first two years, and then all of a sudden, in the past year - he's grown cognizant of what the masks are and will NOT go in the room by himself.He and my other son will inevitably grow to love film and masks like their old man - so I imagine the "scary effect" will be gone by age 8?

great questionmy kids 4 and 6 (both boys) are cool with them, their mother gives me crap all the time about "you don't know how kids process stuff" a couple of them are pretty gory so i have towels over them. they love halloween and like my spfx realistic masks alot and aren't scared of themmaybe my kid will be more into special effects and stuff when he gets older, nothing wrong with that!
