everyone watch the dvd they are button snaps which look to have almond paint on the flat part which would explain y they look like the under side on the snaps

They are regular snaps but put through from the inside.
You need to grind the inside of the mask so the snap fit into the hole
and make it thin enough so enough comes through to show on the outside.
