I've never had a bust or mask painted before, so I was wondering, whenyou send them off, do the painters typically clean up the busts before painting, such as smoothing the rough areas, and trimming off the little bumpsthat seem to form on the latex, and feel in the little holes and cracks?

i srmt 2 out for painting and he cut up the excess latex added eyes and essentiels

you think they would but not all do.... if your sending something for paint make sure you include what exactly you want done ... seam triming, patching etc etc.

Prep work is an important key to how the paint job will look. If you have a bunch of rough spots the piece will not look realistic. I also do something most people dont do. When I have a piece all primed and ready for paint. I take polishing sandpaper and polish the piece this gives the piece an ultra realistic painting surface to paint on.

I trim and fill before painting, but you have to be specific in what you expect because as mentioned, not all do.

It's always good to ask the painter you're hiring if they do in fact trim and prep before painting. Some painters are just that, painters. So it’s always good to ask because you never know, maybe the person you're hiring to paint doesn't have the tools to trim and prep.Jeff-
