Think of it this way: Had they originally created Freddy as a real burn victim and made his face look authentically burned, this it probably what he should have looked like. The classic Freddy we know doesn't look like a real burn victim. But I do agree... it's hard to swallow at first because we've been watching Freddy for over 2 decades now. Change like this is sometimes hard to accept.

Is it just me, since Jackie is so thin, he kinda looks like a bobble head with the makeup on.

I actually dig the new makeup. It not only looks creepy, but it's pretty dang right-on as far as burn victims go.

I'm a huge fan of the part 3/4 makeup, but I think this is growing on me. I'm never going to let it replace my vision of Freddy, but I think it's gonna be good. Really glad they are taking this in a serious, "realistic" direction.
