Hey all!!Well, just as I figured, the hospital called on Friday morning, and bumped up my surgery for the 'pre-cancer' thing to either next Friday or the following Thursday or Friday. Typical hospital BS. Whether or not I had the surgery however, I was planning on checking out the 'Rue-Morgue' Con here in Toronto anyway, considering the fact that Greg Nicotero and George Romero were going to be there. That was pretty much the MAIN thing that was keeping me somewhat sane, considering that this surgery f'd up my trip to the MM Con, (Which by the way, looks like it was great. Missed you guys man!)So Kim and I and the rugrats headed downtown Friday night, basically hung out with Greg and George, had something to eat, and went home. Went down early Saturday morning, and spent the whole day there. Had a blast. Met the boys from 'Gaslight Studios', a Toronto based FX company who did all of the 'make-up effects' for George's upcoming 'Diary Of THe Dead'. Great, great guys. Checked out a Q & A featuring the man, Greg Nicotero, which was just amazing. I could have sat there for a week and listened to his stories man. Just a riot. He showed a great reel that was about 6 minutes long featuring highlights from KNB efx. It was put together by a buddy of mine, Rob Lucas. Sunday, my son Dawson and I went down on our own. I dragged my personal copy of 'Dead Pilot' with me to get George to sign. He loved it! I also told him that I finally got my 'Verrill Luck' bust back, signed by King. Right away he says; "Andrew man, you better get that thing insured. Steve NEVER signs that kind of stuff. You have a hell of a piece there." I gave him a copy of 'Horrorhound' and showed him the article I did on 'Creepshow', which he loved. I also gave Greg a copy. Then Dawson and I went to the table next door to meet Malcolm McDowell (hope thats spelled right). Just an awesome guy.Last night, at the Bloor Cinemas in downtown Toronto, there was a tribute to the man, George Romero called 'Speak Of The Dead'. It started with a 22 minute preview of an up-coming documentary done by a guy named Rusty Nails about the life and cinema of George. It was just fantastic. Then George took to the stage, and there was a guy from 'Rue-Morgue' radio, who did a 2 hour interview with him, and basically went through every movie George has done. It was awesome. My wife Kim was even impressed. I told her; 'We're a part of history here. This is a big deal.' We went across the street after with some guys and gals for a few beers, Jon L called me, and I talked to him for about 10 minutes. He was with Dan Drista, and they were driving back from the MM Con, so I basically got the scoop from him, and he got some info outta me. Looks like everybody had a pretty good weekend. Hopefully, the next one, we'll ALL be in one place man.Anyhow, sorry for such a long blurb. Just wanted to share what I did this past weekend with you guys. All things considere, I only took a few pics. Hope you like. The first couple of pics are of my King bust. I'm currently adding eyelashes, and fixing up the meteor-s*it a tad, to liven it up for display. Check out the blurb that King wrote! The man's an author, and he signed Meteor wrong! lol. Guess that's why these guys have 'proof-readers'.-A
