Help: Freddy Glove Coloring Question

I recent bought a glove on here and am noticing that the brown coloring on the copper is chipping off. I've noticed a lot of glove builders coat the copper on their gloves to give them a certain color. From what I hear Ken and Kruegear have the same coatings on the metals.You say its lacquer? What kind of lacquer? Just a typical brown lacquer?

The glove was probably not roughed up (sanded) enough before the weathering paint was applied.Still looks great.

You think it's a liquid lacquer or stain of some kind that he sprayed on it? Maybe get an airbrush and put wood stain in it and spray it? I'm trying to find someone who may know how this appearance is achieved.

There are many ways to weather copper and brass (which will get this disired effect but will not chip off) You can use a solution called liver of sulfer that you can get at most craft or hobby stores, it stinks like hell but it works great. or you could use acetone which is VERY dangerous and will eat through almost anything even gloves. or you could also look on ebay for "antiquing solutions" this will give you a few options.

I pretty much already know all the chemicals to change the surface of the copper to different colors except for this one method I'm asking about. I'd just like to expand my different methods of aging so I know how to get specific looks and I really like the color of the fingers on the glove pictured above so that's why I'm trying to find out only what this stuff is or how it's applied.

that style of weathering is really not that good other than for display...it comes off too easily
