What clay do you guys like to sculpt with the best when making latex mask? Also about how many pounds does it usually take to sculpt one?I think alot of people use the wed 210 for dividing walls but is it ok to sculpt with wed 217?Let me know what is best to sculpt with.Thanks.......

I found WED the easiest to use so far but you really don't have long to mold, before it dries out. Most people use 20-30lbs of clay for a sculpt, sometimes more, depending on the size and amount of detail.

Depending on the size of your armiture, I just posted my first sculpt last week, I used a monster makers armiture and only needed 8 lbs of clay.

There always seems to be some confusion to the water base clays. Em-210 is not WED clay its Em-210 water clay and it has no glycerin in it and will dry out extremely fast. It is sandy in feel and white in color and is only used for making dividing walls. It is not good for sculpting. Em-217 WED clay is an earthy darker colored clay that has glycerin in it to slow the drying process allowing more time for sculpting and is the one you want to use for sculpting a mask. There is only one Wed clay and its em-217. Wed stands for Walter E Disney. The amount of clay you need to use really depends on how big the sculpture is going to be. Generally you only need about a 50 pound box of Wedto the job, so having 200 pounds around will be more then enough.I hope this clears up some confusion to new comers and helps you pic the right clay for what your doing.
